That rivalry right now is about 100% fan driven. Back in 2001-2005, that rivalry was heated, and it was evident every single game. Now, the players don't care that much anymore, and it's not even close.
The Old Firm rivalry in Glasgow shits all over Yankees-Red Sox.
The mid-to-late 90s Avs/Red Wings rivalry was one of the greatest in sports history. Of course, that was short lived, but for several years there there were several out and out bench clearing brawls and some absolutely classic playoff series'. :hatsoff:
It still isn't a patch on Rangers v Celtic. It's a rivalry well over a century old, based on religious divisions and had a strong base in The Troubles in Northern Ireland. You really haven't lived until you have gone to one of their games. I have nothing against US sports - I love the MLB and NFL, but there really is nothing over there that compares to this fixture.

It went something like that. That's definitely some shit right there where one of the groups were opressed by the other for decades. Maple Leafs/Canadiens rivalry is around a century old and is entirely based on English Canada Vs. French Canada. Every other rivalry is good and all, but none of them represent the division in a country like the good ol' hockey game.
