Classic Mode basically switches controlled characters over to AI autopilot. It's only half like 1997's Final Fantasy 7 and only lets gamers use commands when the ATB gauge is full. But combat is still in real-time and the AI-controlled party leader will block, dodge, and slash with combo attacks to fill up the ATB gauge. Players can jump in at any time to do special moves, use items, or summon monsters once the ATB gauge is full, but the automatic control won't be interrupted until it's turned off.
Ergo my concern.
Previously reported issues, also:
FF7 will be episodic, and next-gen. Keeping your save between ps4/xb1 and the ps5/xb1sxUltraCapcomMegaman will require a season pass. (And between episodes ~ I guess a squaresoft acct wont be free?)
Also, that 'season' pass will truly be just a season, the same way the original came on multiple discs.
So 60$, whatever the pass is for 2020, 20201, etc.
Read a whie back that they're aiming for 36 different episodes. Considering the game is 100+ gigs, 2 BluRays, and it only encompassed midgar ~ which was the first 3 hours of the 1997 game.. I think a multi-year game seems inevitable. barring creative burnout on their part.
But optimistically, I very much want classic mode to be a real thing, and not just autopilot.
