Simpsons up to season 8, after that it got a bit lame.
Futurama was always great though, didn't outstay it's welcome like Simpsons.

I actually season 7 is the cut off. It's just such a shame at how incredibly lame the show is. I mean, I'm in the target audience, but it fails to get one laugh from me. It's lameness is just beyond description.

ah, who can really truly choose. i didnt like futurama when i first saw it. thought of it as a simpson rip-off, but truly (and years later when they came on adult swim) after watching them, i feel in love. its truly its own show and very VERY well written.
and obviously, the simpsons have set the bar for all animated shows and u must give credit to them for paving the way for other animated shows to be taken serious. and family guy fans should be gratful too. without the simpson, there probably wouldnt be any family guy (and that would suck, even though ive seen every episode about 20 times.)
should have put a both option. i simply cannot vote!

I like the Simpsons better.
This isn't even contestable IMO. The comedic writing of "The Simpsons" is some of the greatest in television history. I might add, shows like Futurama, American Dad, Family Guy, etc. are all fairly based on some of the formulas made successful by "The Simpsons" in the first place.

I could'nt decide between The Simpsons and Family guy though, you have to be quite smart to get the jokes in Family guy
Ya right. Family Guy jokes are hilarious, but simple. All you have to do is pay attention to what is going on in pop culture to get Family Guy jokes. Simpsons touches on things like philosophy, history and religion. You can watch it as a kid, laugh your ass off. Watch the same episode 15 years later and find new jokes you didn't even know were jokes before. That makes Simpsons superior to Family Guy. Futurama is awesome too, and of the same mold as the Simpsons, but it just doesn't have the catalogue that Homer and friends do.
