It's subjective to everyone. I have cousins that I can't play rap around until a cold day in hell. Some people just think the image and shit (probably) is what carries the music...like pop. :dunno:

I like rap, but If I'm going to a isolated island for life, my top five albums don't have any rap albums listed. Although I like artists like Wyte, I have to admit the profanity gets old after a while, and around most common folks you can't even play the stuff.

I've got no particular issue with you, Diva. You've always been a good poster here. I respect you. However, I reiterate....let it go and let's move on.

A ***** in the liquor store tonight got his little sidekick (lil kid...dont know if it his son or brother) or whatever at the store try to get some drank (Screwdriver mix with Gin, Vokda, 160 Proof and more) from around the corner from where I stay at. When I got my drink and dipped out the store 2 da car, this lil ***** got the nerve to say "Hey fat man, Give me your money" and I notice that the way the dued say it, the other ***** made him say it and I saw the man in the store after I got my drink. (I know the cat that made the lil ***** say it, I knew him from Grambling State dayz....But I got to watch dat ***** doe, U know how it is maine....) I heard him but the shit didnt faze me due to the way he said the shit. The lil ***** haning with the wrong cats like they say....

Sparky...in order to appreciate anything you have to have some frame of reference to understand what is going on in whatever you read, look at or listen to.

I don't expect someone 50 or above to EVER be able to understand anything associated with rap music irrespective of race simply because they would have been beyond the phase of their life to be inclined to approach it when the genre started. I don't particularly expect too many in their 40s either..primarily for the same reasons....Early 40s would have put a person in high school when rap first started...maybe they could relate.

But back to the point of artistry, if you don't consider poetic word-smithing and in some cases impromptu poetry..where rhyming succinctly and on time..while conveying a message (in many cases metaphorically) art, then I don't know what to tell you as everyone can't do that.

Just like everyone can't simply sit down and pen poetry.

Sure, rap music sucks dog balls all week long. We all know that.

What sucks EVEN MORE is that you had to bow to the almighty god of "client entertainment" and endure instead of standing up for your own conscience and explain to your client that you were uncomfortable with this venue as a form of business development.

Man, sales jobs suck.
