Because where I needed to go was about ten or so miles down the way, if not more. I didn't want to have to wait 40 minutes for the next bus.

It was the first time since years that there was even a supervisor in the train. Lucky me, because I bought a seven-day ticket instead of using the what I called "For-Free-Ticket" like always

Chyeah right! Reason why it is 40 minutes is from the size of the city and they have two buses for each route to keep a steady pattern of arrival/departure. Some might have more on the route depending on how far out they go.
