Rand Paul: Racist

I was going to tell somebody the sky was blue the other day, but since I wasn't a particle physicist, meteorologist, and astronomer I didn't because I wasn't qualified to do so.

hahhahaha:1orglaugh thanks for the laugh

Multi-national corporations have no conscious, no soul, no sense of right and wrong, no compassion and no guilt. Why do all these neocon teabaggers put multi-national corporate profits over the rights of American citizens?

Because they are paid to do so. Our elected officials--bought and paid for by "Global" Multinationals...

"Rand Paul cancels 'Meet the Press' appearance amid Civil Rights Act controversy"
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/05/21/AR2010052105327.html

"After two days of bruising media coverage about his views on elements of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul of Kentucky on Friday canceled his scheduled appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press."

"Rand did 'Good Morning America' today, set the record straight, and now we are done talking about it," said Jesse Benton, a spokesman for Paul's campaign. "No more national interviews on the topic."

Betsy Fischer, the NBC show's executive producer, responded: "Obviously, they've had a tough week -- we all know that. I hope he'll . . . keep his commitment."

Only two other people have canceled appearances on "Meet the Press": Louis Farrakhan and Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan.

"We tried to impress upon them that this is a big deal," Fischer said.

My take on this is that this is what you can expect from the likes of "Rand Paul".Someone who is a political neophyte who will with consistence make statements that any politcal veteran would know are political danger zones with little upside and of no real importance in our current political situation.I guarantee that some leading republicans got the word to Paul to shut up on this issue and hence the cancellation of him on "Meet the Press".

This really makes me think of how so many think politics is the one vocation where experience is a liabilty instead of being valuable. While I sort of understand that I still think for most people starting out in elected politics at the national level (mainly senator or higher like President) almost guarantees that you get people like Rand who have a lot to learn and are in way over their heads.Remember Perot,Jesse Ventura?Rand and his tea party supporters are something that I think ends up shrinking the republican party demographically further and being of only limited short benefit for them politically.

Lets see how long they can keep Rand in check,he can't hide out too long, he better be ready for more questions on the race issue whenever he reappears. Can he get and keep his foot out of his mouth and go on to victory in Nov??? Time will tell.

As long as they play by the rules, making money is ok. If they break the rules, that's another story.

FOMM, nice post, and very true... it's to be expected that newby politicians, especially one with a libertarian POV, will say things that are going to be fresh fodder for the established parties and the media. I find him a breath of fresh air and hope he is as courageous as his father in holding to his ideals in the face of so much corruption in the current political landscape.

 Well said!

To think that you would have to assume the rules are just, right, and ethical to begin with.

OUCH, that has to be embarrassing. I find it ammusing how he's backpedaling already. So he also doesn't have the courage of his convictions. I suppose now his political allies and advisors will have to send him back to politics school to learn how to lie better when he needs to.

Not racist -- just an idealistic man with politically suicidal tendencies -- I'm not talking about the civil rights talk, which most Kentuckians could care less about. I'm talking about the "accidents happen" references to BP and coal mining -- that was a real head-slapper for me as soon as I heard it. He may as well have gone on air and said " I have a dead hooker with a penis in my trunk."
He was up 25ish points on his opponent following the primary and now he's already down to single digits; worse yet, he's given Conway a huge ad campaign gift.

Well, Rand Paul officially has pulled the rip cord as his campaign is in a complete nosedive...

It appears that trying to argue that businesses should have the right to discriminate probably doesn't make good campaign strategy after all

HA! I wonder how he can blame his campaign staff for his gaffes? He's worse than Biden and Palin...

Also keep in mind the mainstream media and Washington itself loathes any political philosophy it considers a "threat" to the dominance of the two mainstream parties... hence, he will be ridiculed by holding to his libertarian ideals by both sides for many reasons.

Thanks for the thread, Jagger :hatsoff:

I see that racism and bigotry didn't stop you from voting for a president whose very much black separatist pastor, for over the course of better than 20 years, has been espousing a sermon of anti semitic, anti white and anti American rhetoric . . . "

. . and nobody even batted and eye . . " :1orglaugh

just pointing out inconsistencies is all :dunno: :yinyang:

Again, show us where Wright has been doing this for 20 years...if at all.

That's for the "if at all" of your post. And before you say it's not "hateful" or "racist," notice the diversity of his audience. ;) So much for breaking down racial barriers.

I don't know him enough to know if he genuinely is hateful or racist against Whites, but I don't see a White man getting the same pass he does for this sort of rhetoric. :dunno:

Well, when you're a left winged president with plenty of geeky supporters in high places throughout the media, Youtube and Gaggle, to name just a few, archives will disappear. . . big surprise, isn't it ?

Anti-semetic:
Wright alleges that
"them [sic] Jews" within the Obama administration are preventing the two from speaking to each other. He also suggested that Obama did not send a delegation to the Durban Review Conference in Geneva, because of Jewish pressure, saying: "[T]he Jewish vote, the A-I-P-A-C vote, that’s controlling him, that would not let him send representation to the Darfur Review Conference, that’s talking this craziness on this trip, cause they’re Zionists, they would not let him talk to someone who calls a spade what it is."

Anti-white:
Wright on 9/11:
"White America got their wake-up call after 9/11. White America and the Western world came to realize people of color had not gone away, faded in the woodwork, or just disappeared as the Great White West kept on its merry way of ignoring black concerns."

Wright on the disappearance of Natalee Holloway:
"Black women are being raped daily in Africa. One white girl from Alabama gets drunk at a graduation trip to Aruba, goes off and gives it up while in a foreign country and that stays in the news for months."
http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2007/8/8/194812.shtml

There are several other documented occurences of Wright employing the terms "white arrogance" and "the United States of White America."

And, he even has been quoted as saying that "rich white people" killed Jesus.

Anti-American:
Does the "God Damn America" sermon ring a bell?
“The government lied about Pearl Harbor too. They knew the Japanese were going to attack. Governments lie. The government lied about the Gulf of Tonkin Incident. They wanted that resolution to get us in the Vietnam War. Governments lie. The government lied about Nelson Mandela and our CIA helped put him in prison and keep him there for 27 years. The South African government lied on Nelson Mandela. Governments lie."

"The government lied about inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color. Governments lie."

"The government gives them [people of color] the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, not God Bless America. God damn America — that's in the Bible — for killing innocent people. God damn America, for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America, as long as she tries to act like she is God, and she is supreme. The United States government has failed the vast majority of her citizens of African descent.."

Yeah, "God Damn you America" for providing a playing field for him to cultivate his monetary successes, and erect his multi-million dollar home on Tinley Park golf course. A 10,340 sq. foot estate with an elevator and a 4-car garage!

I'm not going to say that Rand Paul is a racist. However, his views on Civil Rights and the 1964 CRA certainly do seem to be at odds with each other.
