I have had a playstation since the first one came out and I just bought the PS3 a month ago. I was going to buy the xbox, and then when I saw that it was only 100 dollars more for a blue ray player and I would be able to play all my old games I went for it. So far it is awesome.

Right now with the price cut it is 100 $ more for a PS3 but back then it was 200 $ more . :D

Looks like Metal gear solid 4 might not stay exclusive to the PS3 .

Nah man, Kojima himself announced that it was exclusive at E3. Let the rumor die now.

In other news, have you guys seen Killzone 2?!

The PS3 is a sinking ship. You should be aware of the possibilty that there might be nearly no further games. The PS3 might have a chance if Blue Ray wins the war against HD-DVD but that´s not going to happen soon.

:1orglaugh Sorry to break your heart buddy, but if you hadn't been living under a rock for the past few months you would have known that Blu Ray is indeed outselling HD-DVD in all regions by a factor of 4 to 1.

That's true but it doesn't really save the PS3 from sinking .

I don't think the PS3 is a sinking ship. It just needs a lower price and sales will pick up. Besides, the PS3 doubled it sales last week after the announcement of the $100 price drop. If you also watched E3 you would have noticed that they have a killer lineup for '07 as well as '08. It's very far from dead. In fact, none of the consoles will be dying this generation because all the three big companies are doing the right thing.

HD-DVD-owners buy more HD-Movies than BR-owners do. It´s naive just to compare the sales of the players. Especially if most of the BR-players are actually videogame consoles.:1orglaugh

pitino

are you talking to me?

No dude, you're misinformed. I'm talking about the movies not the machines. Blu ray movie discs are outselling HDDVD discs 4-1. Go check it, it's been on the news for quite a while now.

I never said the PS3 doesn't have a good lineup of games coming in the future . It's just that right now there is nothing special in the games departement to warrant a high price tag like that . I truly hope that the PS3 will have success because that will make Microsoft and Nintendo work harder to give us the best they can .

I know BR-Discs are outselling HDDVD-Disks thanks to the PS3. But this can easily change because I guess they are gamers not movie-collectors.
BTW I guess with "news" you mean north-american news;)

I get what you're saying but you must also remember that the PS3 has only been out for 7+ months while the 360 is approaching 2 years. I'm not saying it's an excuse for Sony to sit on their asses but good games take time to come out. If you watched E3 you would've notice that Sony is very hard at work securing these good games. It will take time but I believe Sony will get to where it needs to be. They have games like Heavenly *****, Lair, Uncharted, Folklore, Home, Ratchet & Clank, Unreal Tournament 3, Haze and GT5 Prologue (not including the multiplats and PSNetwork downloads) coming out this year. For next year they have Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy XIII, Killzone 2, Final Fantasy XIII-Versus etc. I'd say they're in a good spot with games. All they need to do now is lower the price so that they'll be in a better spot. They already lowered the price by $100 and that's having positive effects on their sales (they reported that they're selling at a double rate in 5 major retailers). I'm also hearing rumors that they'll be lowering the price again in time for the holidays.

HD-DVD is even doing worse in Asia and Europe. With companies like Blockbuster dropping HD-DVD, I seriously doubt HD-DVD will make a comeback. Besides, most of the movie studios are in the Blu Ray camp anyway. Things are looking very grim for the HD-DVD.

The price issue is beating a dead ***** that looks to be stripped of its flesh by now. If you can afford the price and decide it's worth the money to pay for, then good for you. If you think it's too much, then Xbox is obviously the next best choice in terms of similar game content.

Here is a neutral article about blue ray vs hd-dvd:

I'll admit to believing after viewing both systems that the PS3 technology looks better, not too suprising considering it's much newer. I will not say that it is superior to the extent that the cost is worth it, that's up to you. I've never been too big of a fan of Xbox specific games, which is the simple reason I don't have a 360.

As for the people who keep arguing for Microsoft or Sony, you guys look pretty foolish. I applaud the two corporations for being able to have consumers cheering for their products like it's the super bowl. Commercialism these days has gone to new lows. I have a PS3, but I also have a PC. I like games from Microsoft, but I also play games produced by Sony. Whoop dee doo.

Not a bad clip at all. I have to admit hat I was a bit sceptic about the PS3 at first, but depending on which games come out and if any price drops are due, I may be swayed. I'm personally looking forward to the new WipEout game that's on the way, always been a fan of that series.
