Pacquiao agrees to 50/50 split

We've got us a fight!

The source also disclosed other aspects of the fight, which will take place at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds for Pacquiao's title and match the top two fighters in the world, pound-for-pound.
For promotional purposes, the bout will be referred to as Mayweather-Pacquiao, but Top Rank will receive first billing over Golden Boy throughout the promotion.
The fight is going to take place March 13 because Pacquiao is running for a congressional seat in the Philippines and the elections are in May, which would have been a conflict between his training and the campaign.

Paul Williams just got his ass beat the other day. I thought Paul was the shit but Martinez beat the shit out of him. I was kind of shocked because Williams is one dude I would never wanna see in a dark alley somewhere. He's a tough sucker!

Pacquiao. Mayweather will jab then run like a dog like he always does. Pacquiao will absorb anything in Floyd's arsenal.

I notice a sudden but not all too surprising Iraq-type surge in votes for

Couple of updates regarding the big fight:

*Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, who are close to finalizing an agreement for boxing's biggest fight on March 13, have both agreed to a contractual clause under which each will be subject to Olympic-style drug testing in advance of the fight, Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's trainer, told ESPN.com. Mayweather's father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., has accused Pacquiao, who was once flyweight champion and now holds a welterweight belt, of using banned substances in previous bouts, even though Pacquiao has never failed a drug test. "Mayweather's side wanted it because the expert over there, Mayweather Sr., says Manny is on steroids to get bigger. I have no problem with the testing whatsoever. They can do whatever kind of drug testing they want. They're scared of Manny and scared of his power. He'll pass any test in the world." The fighters will be subject to testing, including blood testing, throughout the lead-up to the fight. Samples will be tested at the U.S. Olympic testing center at UCLA, although neither fighter will have to have blood drawn during the week of the bout.

Also, Dallas is out of the running to host the fight

http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/news/story?id=4729058

For unspecified reasons, Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, is out of the running to host the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather super fight, Top Rank's Bob Arum told ESPN.com on Wednesday.
Arum, Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, who will co-promote the nearly finalized fight, and HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg were supposed to meet with Cowboys officials at the stadium on Wednesday for a tour of the facility and to talk with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones about a site fee for the fight.
There has been interest from other venues, including the Superdome in New Orleans, although Las Vegas, specifically the MGM Grand, is believed to be the front-runner to host what many believe will be the richest fight in boxing history. The MGM, which has a close relationship with Golden Boy and Top Rank, has hosted several Pacquiao and Mayweather bouts, including their most recent fights -- Mayweather's shutout decision of Juan Manuel Marquez on Sept. 19 and Pacquiao's 12th-round knockout of Miguel Cotto on Nov. 14.
The Miami Dolphins are also interested in hosting the fight at Land Shark Stadium, going so far as to send out e-mails to their season-ticket holders to gauge their interest in buying tickets for the event.

Mayweather hasn't fought anybody in, like, two years.

For all intents and purposes, he's already retired.

Pacquiao's been fighting nonstop in the meantime, taking out all other possible challengers and contenders.

I think Pacquiao will be much sharper than Mayweather. I hope Mayweather is at least taking home most of the fight money, because he's not leaving the ring with his titles, or his undefeated streak.

Mayweather is going to fall off just like Roy Jones did. For years, they basically collected pay checks by fighting middle of the road competition. Eventually they ran out of prime time money fights. RJJ was finally backed into fighting better comp and hasn't been anything since.

Mayweather, or Floyd 'Maybe' Mayweather, Has 40 wins over an eleven year span, yet has never fought top 3 or 4 fighters in his class.

K. Tszyu- Ducked
N. Campbell- Never Fought
M. Cotto- Ducked
A. Margarito- Ran From In Terror
S. Mosely- Ducked Many Times Over
P. Williams- Will Never Get A Shot

But I get it though... wait til' fighters get brutally knocked out or washed up, and then fight them and take all of the credit for beating old and beat up former champs! Well Floyd, there is only one big money fight left, and Manny is not beat up or washed up. I know you had hoped he would be at this point, but now you have to look your legacy in the face. Manny's been laying a path to you in bodies for a good while now, and won't be denied giving you a good look at what being the best pound-for-pound looks like.

My Prediction: Manny un-prettys the Pretty Boy: Pacquiao TKO in 8
