A day after their fight was declared dead, Floyd Mayweather Jr. said Thursday night that he still wants to fight Manny Pacquiao.
Their tentative March 13 megafight -- which many believe will be the most lucrative fight in boxing history if it happens -- was called off Wednesday night by Top Rank's Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter, after mediation failed to resolve their issues over drug testing protocol.
Arum blamed Mayweather for the fight falling apart, but Mayweather came out swinging on Thursday.
"Throughout this whole process I have remained patient but at this point I am thoroughly disgusted that Pacquiao and his representatives are trying to blame me for the fight not happening when clearly the blame is on them," Mayweather said in a statement.
"First and foremost, not only do I want to fight Manny Pacquiao, I want to whip his punk ass."
"Before the mediation, my team proposed a 14-day, no blood testing window leading up to the fight. But it was rejected," Mayweather said. "I am still proposing the 14-day window but he is still unwilling to agree to it, even though this is obviously a fair compromise on my part as I wanted the testing to be up until the fight and he wanted a 30 day cut-off. The truth is he just doesn't want to take the tests.
"In my opinion it is Manny Pacquiao and his team who are denying the people a chance to see the biggest fight ever. I know the people will see through their smokescreens and lies. I am ready to fight and sign the contract. Manny needs to stop making his excuses, step up and fight."
If the welterweight title bout is to be saved, and still go forward on March 13, the camps likely have until Friday or Saturday to work things out and still kick off the promotion as planned early next week in New York.

Damn...

Mediator Claims Team Pacquiao Made False Allegations

Judge Daniel Weinstein today issued an order to correct the false record that has been created by the recent statements from Top Rank and Manny Pacquiao's representatives concerning what occurred at the mediation.

The full text of the judges statement is as follows...

1.***** Various articles have appeared in the press purporting to characterize the substance and outcome of the Mayweather-Pacquiao mediation and the negotiations between the parties. Many of the reports are incorrect.

2.***** The mediation was a confidential proceeding. Any comments to the press or public by participants in the mediation purporting to report the substance or details of the mediation are violations of the strict confidentiality to which the parties and their representatives agreed and which they authorized the Mediator to enforce.

3.***** The parties and their representatives authorized that, if misinformation was disclosed to the press by either side, the Mediator would correct any erroneous information.

The Mediator corrects the erroneous reports to the press as follows:

a.****** Both parties participated in the mediation in good faith. Both parties participated in many hours of negotiation, with a number of proposals issued by each side and carefully considered by the parties and their representatives.

b.***** The Mediator himself did not formulate, recommend or issue a Mediator's Proposal. The Mediator did not make an evaluation or finding that any one of the many proposals considered by the parties was the correct protocol.

c.****** Any attempt to characterize the mediation process as an acceptance or rejection by any of the parties of a mediator's or an arbiter's proposal or of any specific proposal is false.

d.***** In the end, the parties could not agree on a testing protocol acceptable to all.

War of the Words

Ellerbe lashes out at Arum

Leonard Ellerbe, adviser to Floyd Mayweather Jr., fired some verbal shots at Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, promoter of Manny Pacquiao. Ellerbe tells the Grand Rapids Press that Arum has tried to mislead the public during the entire negotiations period by leaving out information. Mayweather-Pacquiao fell apart on Wednesday after the two camps could not agree on the cut-off date for random*blood tests. After a nine-hour mediation on Tuesday in California, Pacquiao's camp proposed a cut-off period*of 24-days before the fight, while Mayweather's camp wanted a cut-off of 14 days.
Ellerbe says the offer of 14-days was made before*Tuesday's mediation.
“Arum is trying to trick the public into thinking there was no compromise at all,” Ellerbe said. “He never mentioned that a 14-day compromise was offered -- and rejected -- prior to mediation. I think it’s more than a fair compromise, particularly since, realistically, it’s not an issue that should be compromised on at all.”

Arum: Mayweather Has a History of Being a Coward

Promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank outlined the history of Floyd Mayweather Jr's mental state. A coward's mental state, according to Arum. He says Mayweather will never agree to take a tough fight where he stands any chance of losing. Arum has gone on the warpath after Mayweather walked away from a March 13 showdown with Manny Pacquiao.
After weeks of negotiations and a nine hour mediation on Tuesday, Mayweather refused to accept the terms for a Pacquiao bout. He was unhappy with Pacquiao's proposal of taking random bloods tests until 24-days prior to their fight. Mayweather wanted the random blood tests to take place until a date that was much closer to their fight.
..."That's why there's never been a (Shane) Mosley, there's never been a (Antonio) Margarito, there never was a (Miguel) Cotto, and there's no Pacquiao. Floyd Mayweather is a coward. He will never fight anyone that will remotely give him a tough fight. Here's a guy who, the rematch with (Oscar) De La Hoya was a huge fight, it would've made millions and millions, and he walked away from it.. .. I'm not disappointed in the sense that I always knew it was going to be this way."

I have never liked Mayweather. I don't even think he would win this fight, but I pretty much have to side with him on this one. Not only that but it raises some gigantic concerns about why somebody is so unwilling to take a drug test.

This sucks. They both need to take their diapers off and fight each other. Forget about the money and fight for the sake of beating the other fighter. Bring some credibility back to this forsaken sport.

Land Of The Snakes
Manny is scared because if he takes the drug test he will fail (steroids). not a fan of neither boxer but floyd has a point why not a 14 day cut-off instead 24 day cut-off??

pac wont fail the drug tests, he is willing to take the test before he starts to train and right after the fight, he isnt willing to have someone come in and demand a drugs test whenever they decide, he doesnt want needles stuck in his arms and maybe cause him some pain in his arms while training for this fight, have any of you ever had blood taken and been left with a painfull arms? i have and it was hard to move my arm, imagine what that would do to a fighter who has to use his arms to train, anyway these drug tests are amature boxing style tests no pro boxing tests

The only reason it's odd is because in the previous 40 fights Mayweather fought, he never asked any of the other fighters to deal with such rigorous drug testing. I think Mayweather is a scared bitch.

This whole thing pisses me off.

Manny P is pretty clear that the whole thing is Team Mayweather - and Golden Boy - trying to throw him off his game - and he is 100% correct.

If the point is that a boxer would need to be taking illegal drugs to advance successfully through so many weight classes - well, Oscar De La Hoya, head of Golden Boy - step up! Tell us - what exactly was your experience with illegal drugs? How did you advance successfully through so many weight classes?

Oscar knows what an excellent fighter Manny P is - first hand!

Floyd's uncle knows what an excellent fighter Manny P is - because he beat the crap out of the last fighter that he had trained that Manny P fought!

Why does Pacquiao want to have limits on when the drug testing is? Because he wants to be in control of that period of his life as much as possible so that he can do what he needs to do to get ready to win the fight - and Team Mayweather - snivelly little bitches that they are - are completely clear on that and completely clear that a focused Pacquiao is going to beat Floyd Mayweather - so their only chance of winning is to throw him off his game with bs like 24/7 drug testing up to the moment of the fight.

I fucking hate Team Mayweather and Golden Boy - they're fucking cowards!

have any of you ever had blood taken and been left with a painfull arms?i have and it was hard to move my arm

That's probably because you had a pint taken, 1/8 of your entire blood supply. The amount taken for these kind of tests is probably 1/10 of that. Olympic athletes and Tour de France contestants take these kind of tests regularly during competition.

The only reason it's odd is because in the previous 40 fights Mayweather fought, he never asked any of the other fighters to deal with such rigorous drug testing. I think Mayweather is a scared bitch.
None of those fights were of the same magnitude of this one (not even De La Hoya).
None of those fights were to determine the top guy in the sport. This one would have been.

Tell us - what exactly was [Oscar De La Hoya's] experience with illegal drugs? How did you advance successfully through so many weight classes?
Shane Mosley admitted to using PED's leading up to their 2nd fight, Fernando Vargas tested positive for stanozolol after their fight.
Also, De La Hoya's power didn't go up with him as he put on more weight.

Why does Pacquiao want to have limits on when the drug testing is?
Until it's proven otherwise, it's because he's hiding something.

so their only chance of winning is to throw him off his game with bs like 24/7 drug testing up to the moment of the fight.
Mayweather and his people backed off of random testing up to the fight.

Which is why Mayweather is fighting Joshua Clottey instead, right? Paulie Malignaggi and Kermit Cintron also accuse Pacquiao of roiding, why haven't they been hit with a defamation lawsuit?
I don't get the selective attention around this whole situation, especially with the Floyd bashers. Do you not realize that whatever drug testing policy is decided on, both fighters would be subject to the same testing?

Who gives a shit what Malignaggi & Cintron have to say? They're inconsequential.

Mayweather's the one in the fight and it's his team that have been leading the charge smearing Pacquiao's name and they're the ones insisting on a drug testing policy that has not been applied before in the sport with no clear reason why it ought to be in this fight - it's bullshit.

The longer it takes for this fight to happen, the less I care. If this fight does not happen this year, odds are it never will or we will see two very past their prime fighters in a bout in the future, and we will still wonder who was the best. With that being said, I voted for Manny.
