Vincent Lecavalier is very close to signing a 9 years 77 million $ contract with the Lightning :nanner: . So that will put him at 37 years old when his contract expires . I think it's really cool because he's going to have a 8.5 million a year salary so it looks like he decided to get less money to help tampa get better players . Way to go Vinny !!

hockey players are respectable. Marc Andre Fleury and Sidney Crosby also took lower amounts of money to help their team. would any baseball or football player do that?

Crosby did ... Fleury only signed a 2-year deal two years ago, and they're talking over a long-term deal right now. The Penguins filed for arbitration on him a few weeks ago, so it could get pushed to next summer if necessary. There's also talk of the Penguins signing Malkin long term this summer as well. I've also read that Gary (WWGRD) Roberts is definitely gone, Marian Hossa is all but gone, and Ryan Malone is a big-time tossup. :2 cents:

Rumors are flying that both Hossa and Malone could end up in Vancouver (along with Pavol Demitra). Just from what I've read on the Canucks message boards, so take that into account.

Are contracts in the NHL guaranteed for the entire time they list like baseballs are. If they are 9 years is a eternity for contract length in pretty much any sport at the present time. That's a pretty big risk. If something goes wrong it can be a sink on the teams resources for a long time.

They can always buy him out , but I doubt they will have to because he is a great player and unless he gets a career ending injury he will be great untill the end of his contract . Vincent Lecavalier is one of the best and will be for a long time .

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
I think gary bettman is a horse's ass; he has really fucked the NHL up; I am not sure if he the one who constituted a salary cap; but I think that the teams that are barely scraping by and can't afford the players they need to compete should lose their franchises; yeah I am happy hockey has migrated all over the US but its still a canada's national sport; so aside from detroit; chicago; boston; NYR; 4 of the original 6; all the other american cities should not have been awarded teams if its not a big enough market to support an NHL team.. I believe they have gone in the wrong direction.. not to mention all the rule changes; its now more like the ballerina hockey league..

I am suprised their still allowed too check eachother into the boards.. I am a firm believer in being responsible for the way you play.. if you play dirty and somebody wants too drop the gloves and have go; great I still don't hear or see anybody booing when theirs a fight?? what the fuck is bettman trying to outlaw fighting for?? so its a friendlier sport for americans to watch!! I could care fuckin less about the rest of the US except the 4 orignal 6.. the instigater penalties; and all the hooking; tripping; interference; holding penalties are all garbage.. I hope bettmans contract is almost up and the owners vote him out!! he has really fucked up the game way too much.. :dunno:   :thefinger:

what does everyone think of the rangers situation? do you really think the NHL will get rid of them? i think it's kinda silly, the NHL is just butthurt.

So Tampa Bay has acquired the rights to Ryan Malone and Gary Roberts. Malone i think is a good addition, although Roberts may be past his prime.

Just the negotiating rights. Malone has stated he will wait until July 1st before talking contract. But it does give them exclusive negotiating rights to try and convince him.
