Official NHL thread 2007-2008

forget the nickname "Homer" they should call him "Roader" 'cause he's fantastic on the road :D

Yeah , he has been great on the road lately , the only really bad goal he allowed was the game winner against Atlanta . Ramo has been very good vs Montreal so I think we can hope for the best for the end of this season :D

the current poll on NHL.com asks where people think the Lightning will finish in their division this year. most of the voters say "5th place"...we'll prove 'em wrong ;)

best news of the year:

"BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -Florida Panthers forward Richard Zednik has left the hospital and returned to Florida less than a week after he was slashed in the throat by a teammate's skate.

Zednik went home Friday after being released Thursday evening, officials at Buffalo General Hospital said. Zednik lost five pints of ***** after he was accidentally sliced by the skate of teammate Olli Jokinen in a game against the Sabres.

The 32-year-old forward said he barely felt the skate slice into his carotid artery, but with ***** gushing from his neck he knew he was in trouble. "I was like, Whoa. I knew I had to get to the bench."

He was quickly put in an ambulance, and Dr. Leslie Bisson put pressure on his neck to help slow the ******** as the ambulance headed toward the hospital.

"I remember everything," Zednik told The Buffalo News. "I remember the doctor holding my neck and telling him, 'Don't push so hard. I can't breathe.' I talked to my trainer (Dave Zenobi). I remember them saying, 'OK, go to surgery."'

Dr. Sonya Noor repaired the artery that had been sliced open but not completely severed.

"One week happened so much. Everything just went so well," Zednik said. "You look at it like that, and I was lucky. They saved my life. After surgery, they were amazing."

Zednik was discharged from Buffalo General on Thursday evening, spent Valentine's Day night with his wife, Jessica, who had flown to Buffalo from Florida, and was anxious to get home to Florida on Friday.

Jessica Zednik had ***** little last Saturday night after caring for their 4-year-old ********, Ella, and spending all day Sunday with her in Delray Medical Center in South Florida. Ella, who had been battling a high fever, was well enough to go home later that evening.

Jessica Zednik had been home for 10 minutes when injured left wing Jozef Stumpel, a friend who didn't make the road trip with the Panthers, called about her husband's injury.

"Life is so fragile, and you don't own it," she told the newspaper. "You never know and take everything for granted. Not anymore, believe me. It's a reality check."

one of the best game i saw in years,
things are going well for the habs, cant wait for the playoffs

There is a rumor that they are about to acquire Marian Hossa for Michael Ryder , Mark Streit , a young prospect and a possible draft choice . If that happens , they will have a dangerous team .

i also heard rumors about alex tanguay for ryder,
i even heard one about sundin in montreal...i dont believe this one

the Isles got 4 straight wins... another one tonight and we might be in top 8!!! we still can be the first on our division!!

The rumor of the equipment of Hossa that was ship to Montreal is true but it was the equipment of Marcel Hossa for the game of last Tuesday. Anyways, I hope that Gainey will make a move to acquire him.

I don't think it would be a good move from a long-term perspective . Montreal has some good young players right now and they have to know that those guys will cost them a lot more than right now some day . So unless they manage to acquire Hossa for almost nothing ( highly unlikely ) they should really think about the future instead of trying to make an attempt at winning the cup because I don't think they are ready to do that just yet .

i agree, the last thing this team needs is a player who's going to destroy
the teams chemistry...

im not saying Hossa would do that, but the team is going great...so do we really need a trade

but i admit that a a good trade could help the canadiens win a 25th stanley cup,is that 24th or 25th,cant remember we have so many

and another win by the Isles... nice work from DiPietro... shootout Tampa Bay!!

yeah that rick dipietro is really good,
you know he has a 15 year contract,at first
i thought it was crazy, but it seems to be
a good descision for the teams future

What a game yesterday! Montreal found a way to win over the rangers when it was 5-0 for NY! A historic game!

A comeback to remember -- Montreal's 6-5 shootout victory over the Rangers on Tuesday, in which the Canadiens rallied from a 5-0 deficit, was one of the great comebacks in NHL history --but not the greatest.

The Habs' rally marked the ninth time, including once in the playoffs, that an NHL team overcame a five-goal deficit to win a game. Before Tuesday, it hadn't been done since Nov. 29, 2000, when St. Louis fell behind 5-0 at Toronto before rallying for a 6-5 overtime win. The last time a team trailed by five goals and won in regulation came on March 3, 1999, when Colorado scored seven unanswered goals in the final 21:49 to stun the Florida Panthers, 7-5.

The Canadiens trailed 5-0 until Michael Ryder scored at 9:28 of the second period. But that wasn't close to the latest comeback, which came on Jan. 26, 1987, when Calgary was down 5-0 at Toronto with less than 14 minutes left in regulation --but scored five times in the final 13:58 to tie it, and won it 6-5 in overtime.

The most famous five-goal comeback win was the only one that took place in the playoffs --the “Miracle on Manchester,” when the Edmonton Oilers led Los Angeles, 5-0, early in the third period on April 10, 1982, only to see the Kings tie the game in regulation and win it in overtime.

he's very good... I can't see the Isles matches here in Brazil as they don't show the NHL... only the highlights in Yahoo! and I can see that he's very good!!

I want the Isles to face our rivals Rangers in the playoffs and beat them 4-0... it would be awesome!!

it's an odd situation with Tampa. one game their golatending will be awful and their scoring great. the next, their goaltending will be stellar and scoring lagging. they just can't seem to get the proper combo down :(

Looks like Brad Richards is going to be traded before the deadline on tuesday . :( One of the teams interested is Dallas , they would include Mike Smith in the trade so I hope it works out because Tampa really needs a good goalie . I would be sad to see Brad go , but if it has to come to that , I really hope they at least try to finally get a good goaltender .

If he is half as good as he once was , they are going to have a great team again .
