Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia fired back yesterday at critics of his recent duck-hunting trip with Vice President Cheney, issuing an unusual 21-page memo rejecting demands that he disqualify himself from a case involving Cheney.

Responding to a motion for his recusal filed by the Sierra Club, which is suing for access to records of a White House energy task force Cheney headed, Scalia said the justices have never been required to sit out cases involving friends in government who are being sued in their official capacities. To do so now, he wrote, would set a dangerous precedent.

Yeah a "dangerous precedent" like him having to decide a case on the fucking merits..

I have come to several conclusions.

She has no experience and she's not qualified.
Supreme court judge?
The highest possible judge there is, yet she has never been a judge, anywhere, not even municipal court.

Theres no business like show business.
Here they go again, choosing people by race sex and sexual preference, all the while pointing the finger of racism at others.
She's a woman and she's gay, who cares right?

I don't know about her resume but there is now requirement to have served as a judge. I know she has served as WH Counsel, been nominated for judge on one of the circuits and is presently Solicitor General.

MrP maybe you should have spent 15 more minutes on research. 40 of the 111 Justices that have served on the Supreme Court of the United States lacked judicial experience prior to ascending to the bench. That’s more than a third of all Justices. The last Justice with no experience was a guy named William Rehnquist who was the Chief Supreme Court Justice and presided over the Clinton impeachment trail. I don’t remember any complaints about him.

Is he a radical in the same sense the Radical Republicans of the Civil War and Reconstruction era were? In retrospect their unyielding commitment to the abolition of slavery was the right philosophy, though early on most saw it as extreme.

Radical is a Republican term that was used to associate people with terrorism. Muslim clerics become 'radical', and muslims fighting (al-queda, freedom fighters, palestinians whatever) were all labelled 'radical' in the hope the public would associate all those with insurgency, terrorism and ultimately 9/11. ie The Radical cleric Al Sadr in Iraq, but he was never called radical before the Iraq invasion? Word has lost all meaning now.
