NPR Analyst Juan Williams gets the boot for...

The point is that a terrorist on a plane, a la Mohammed Atta, is going to blend in.

The 911 terrorists wore western clothes in order to blend in. They may/may not have all taken out al qaeda bandanas when they attacked the planes. They certainly didn't wear anything like that boarding the plane.

Juan Williams basically made the familiar Fox connection--all muslims are terrorists--and that is wrong, sloppy, lazy thinking.

Since he just cashed a $2mill contract from Fox, I assume Juan decided, "I'm making peanuts from NPR, Fox has a shit load of cash, I will trade my integrity for easy money." :yesyes: Now that he is an official Fox stooge, we'll see if Juan has a problem uttering the Fox talking points of "Gov't bad, Liberals evil, Republicans are great, God is great" (;) ) etc...

Yeah the 19 Muslim terrorists blended in because their Takfiri sect allows them to do so if their intent is to kill the infidel.
Juan was speaking about clothing as worn by Arabian Gulf muslims and or Sub Saharan.
No all muslims are terrorist but all the terrorists are muslim. That's fact.

NPR wanted a black man to fit their image of the typical black male........a solid Democrat who despises the Republicans. Well Juan wasn't fitting the bill so they got rid of him. He has a good case to sue.

Liberal free speech is free if you tow the leftist line. Fall out and you're toast.

How can he tell who's a Muslim or not on a plane?

Did you actually WATCH the clip? He stated it very clearly.

As far as the whole mess goes, I think it will actually be good for him. Fox has already scooped him up for $2 million over the next three years.

Let's see what happens when NPR loses their public funding......god willing. Maybe then Soros can just go ahead and continue his media take over and buy NPR outright.......boy, I bet they do well then......

Juan will be alright. I've always liked him. I don't always agree with him, but I do think he is a stand up guy who got treated in a disrespectful, disgusting manner from the "high" ups at NPR......but what else do you think is going to happen when you work for an uber liberal bullshit company, and you dare to speak about your FEELINGS, not your OPINION.

Exactly.

How stupid do you have to be to think a muslim hijacker, particularly in the wake of 9/11, is going to show up wearing "muslim garb" on an airplane?

answer: multiple  worthy stupid

I particularly like Juan Williams because he speaks his mind, especially on Fox News Sunday. This man whether you like him not, I don't find him a racist. The age of political correctness has possibly ruined his image/reputation.

Just as a point of interest, his job at NPR was specifically NOT to speak his mind, but to report news facts.

Anyway, you don't find him a racist? He apparently doesn't think he's bigoted either, but when you say that you get scared just because an outwardly Muslim person gets on a plane, explicitly because they're outwardly Muslim and on a plane, that's pretty fucking bigoted.

Here's another statement, and let's just see how this sounds:
"You know, I'm not bigoted, but every time I see a black man running down the street, I look for the cops behind him."

And if I worked for just about ANY public organization and said that on TV, I'd get fired. And would deserve to be. He was supposed to represent NPR in the public eye. He succeeded only in representing the hyper right wing fear mongering that sleeps so snugly on FOX News. It's not about being politically correct, or the fact that maybe millions of Americans get that same reaction to seeing someone obviously Muslim on a plane. Juan Williams is an idiot who didn't consider the possible consequences of his statements. He's also demonstrably bigoted. Good riddance. NPR doesn't need his kind of shit, he's much more at home on FOX.

P.S. (not to the quoted poster)

Seriously, don't be like O'Donnell and Coons, making a huge deal out of the Constitution and not even knowing what's in it:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Congress didn't fire Juan Williams, and he was not fired for any sort of discrimination against his race, sex, religion or sexual orientation, so stop being so righteous.

For those objecting to Williams' firing as some sort of oppressive act of PC censorship: in addition to wanting to know whether you also objected to CNN's firing of Nasr and Sanchez, and to Thomas' forced "retirement," I'd also like to know what you did to protest CNN's firing of executive Eason Jordan in 2004 for observing -- correctly -- that the U.S. military had repeatedly attacked war journalists; and CNN's 2003 firing of Peter Arnett for criticizing the Iraq War; and MSNBC's demotion and firing of Ashleigh Banfield after criticizing media coverage of American wars, or the same network's firing of Phil Donahue for being too anti-war; or, for that matter, the University of Colorado's dismissal of Ward Churchill for arguing that the World Trade Center was a legitimate target to retaliate against American foreign policy. If you only object to speech-based firings when you agree with the ideas being expressed, then you don't actually believe in the principles you claim to support.

Is it now?
Ever heard of ETA, ELF, the IRA, Earth First!, UPA, BLA, Tamil Tigers, NBF, FLQ, Wawelberg Group, FARC, PCP-SL, The Sons of Freedom, Iron Guard, or the Orange Volunteers (the last three being Chrisitian terrorist groups)?

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
This seems a bit over the top. Taken from the context of the discussion, he was simply expressing his personal feelings as to how he reacts when he boards a plane and sees other passengers who are obviously Muslim. Do any of you here fly on a regular basis like I do? If so, can any of you say that you don't feel the same sense of trepidation (however how small) when placed in the same situation? I know I sure do. I can't help it....I've been preconditioned to have that trepidation just like Pavlov's dog.

It's time to get over ourselves and admit that we all have a certain degree of prejudice in us whether we want to admit it or not. It's human nature. It doesn't necessarily make someone a bigot unless that prejudice leads to some sort of proactivity without provocation. That's the difference.

This is much ado about virtually nothing. Give the guy his job back for Christ's sake.

Oh, he knows. He's just trollin' it up.

Juan Williams just said the exact same thing everyone else was thinking.

Is there anyone here who doesn't have visions of 9/11 run through their mind when they see a ******* at the airport? There is nothing wrong with that. It's just natural because the overwhelming majority of all airplane hijackers just happen to be those foul smelling, little brown men with ratty beards who kill innocent people to glorify their their poor excuse for a god.

Now before the Whoopie Goldbergs and Joy Behars of the board goes off and starts calling me a racist for stating a fact, let me also state that I'm well aware of the fact that not every muslim is a terrorist. It just so happens that almost every terrorist that hijacks an airplane IS a muslim.

If people are whining about being searched at the airports by "racist" security agents, they are whining about the wrong people. Instead of complaining about that, why not stand up and complain about the terrorists? Why do we NEVER hear that from you people??? Why do the muslamics never stand up and call out people from their own religion?

Maybe if they did that, all the rest of us would have a little more sympathy for them. Without standing up against the alleged "small minority of bad apples", people are going to think you agree with those bad apples.

First off what he said was just plain stupid IMO on the face of it.

Look at the 9/11 criminals.None of them were in muslim garb, these people may be evil but thier not idiots like Juan is.

Maybe so....there are allot of stereotypes that people feel but don't say about allot of different people.

Like I said before, there are many different stereotypes that could be said of Blacks, Jews, Latinos, etc. but are not said by those who are in positions where their private statements may bear reflection on their employers if the employer takes no action.

Really? What would you call someone willing to commit suicide and kill thousands of innocent people in the process, all because you thought you would be rewarded by being sent to paradise with 72 virgins?

That is the height of idiocy if you ask me.

He does have a point there....

Yeah and a lot of chritians believe Jesus was born without his mother having sex and that he was killed but came back to life.Just as crazy.

The comment I made about what the 9/11 people were wearing was actually one I heard on Fox this morning by Greg Kelly one of their anchors. They had normal american style dress on as any terrorist will.About the last people you have to worry about are the ones in muslim garb.Thats what makes what Juan said a stupid comment. The terrorists will be wearing brooks brothers outfits.

Political Analysts/Journalists/Commentators are supposed to express analysis, not opinion.

Of course, that was in the days before the rise of single viewpoint corporate media outlets like Fox.

Kind of like the days when news outlets were supposed to report an unbiased version of the news. Sadly, those days have been gone for a long, long time. Hacks like Dan Rather and his buddies have been giving us stories with a leftward slant for far too long.

Libs hate Fox news because they unashamedly take a stand, and are far more popular than the lefty news stations who have been clandestinely doing the same thing for decades.
