Agreed, that wouldn't be enough pay to justify being in the adult industry given the taboo nature of it.
And the $46,000 figure was used as an example, because I doubt she's making that little. My guess is probably around high 5 figures, low 6 figures if one includes feature dancing and other bookings.
It's a logical conclusion to come to given that the average girl who is half way decent looking can easily make $12,000/month in the industry.
So it's not difficult to make that much.
Now perhaps with the recession it's a bit more difficult to do that well, but even making $9,000 or $10,000 would be vastly better than the average American's salary.
Actually I was saying most of the scenes of her that are on tube sites and other sites are from her Vivid days because most of the content she's been in was with Vivid so that's primarily why that's the content that is most easily found online.
As for going after places that have free content up, that's futile. I suppose it gives people something to do with their time, but given that the MPAA and RIAA combined can barely make a dint in the issue, it's not really worth bothering with.
It would be better to work with consumers than try to fight them.
As has already been stated many female performers make around $9000-$10,000/month. And well established women in the industry likely make more than that.
Based on the aforementioned data concerning salaries in the industry for new performers and the likely salaries for well established performers, if one brags about being able to live off their website as a performer in the industry then it is probable that their salary is competitive with the salaries of other performers in the industry.
So the obviousness of the high pay is apparent.
As for tube sites, they're not nearly numerous enough or filled with enough scenes of any significant length to have a significantly deleterious impact on the industry's profits.
And as has already been stated it is far more likely that the recession has had the greater impact on profits. And this hypothesis is buttressed by the fact that the industry didn't start complaining about free content to the degree that they are now until the recession began.
Look at that schedule... that says it all, folks. Nina is definitely one of the hardest working girls in the industry. I can't even imagine having a schedule that hectic all while operating multiple websites. Have fun on your travels, Nina! Maybe one day I'll get to see you!
