Nikkala made me do it!
Anybody watch the frozen four final? WHAT A GREAT GAME!!! Just when you thought the game was over, it was starting.

Boston pulled a comeback to force sudden death, and then won it with a flutter goal.

But the best thing about it was hockey was on ESPN.
That as crazy an ending as I've seen in a long time. Great to see hockey on ESPN, but too bad they had to ruin it with Gary Thorne on play-by-play. :ban:

The East is set.

Boston/Montreal = Already made my opinion clear.

Washington/Rangers= Washington should have a pretty easy time of NY. Even if Lunqvist stands on his head he won't be able to stop the offence.

NJ/Carolina = Now this one is tricky. I'm actually going to go with the Hurricains on this one. They've been red-hot.

Philly/Pittsburgh = THIS is going to be an awesome series. It's a tough one to call, but I say whoever wins will probably do it in game 7.

Home ice in this series is still to be decided. If the Flyers get one point against the Rangers today, the Flyers get home ice against the Penguins. If the Rangers beat the Flyers in regulation, the Penguins get home ice. :2 cents:

LOL

I was just checking out some info on Luongo and I came across this...

"Incidentally, the 2007 postseason was Luongo's first playoffs of his career; in his first game, he almost set an NHL record for most saves in a game with 72, en route to a 5-4 quadruple overtime victory over the Dallas Stars. He was just one save shy of tying the mark set by Ron Tugnutt and Kelly Hrudey of 73. Luongo would go on to win his first playoff series in seven games, but would lose to the eventual Stanley Cup champions, the Anaheim Ducks in the second round. Game 5 of the series with Anaheim saw Luongo come close to his previous 72-save performance, stopping 60 of 62 in a losing effort, in which Vancouver was eliminated. Oddly, Luongo had missed the first three minutes of the first overtime, to what was first believed to be an equipment malfunction. However, after the series had ended, it was revealed that Luongo, instead, had an untimely case of diarrhea.[20]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roberto_Luongo#Playoffs

Haha Hilarious. I remember that game too.

His back-up came off the bench and was like "What the fuck? I have to play in OT?" I forget his name but he made a couple huge saves.

Rangers 4 Flyers 3 ... see you in the Steel City, Flyguys! :nanner:

San Jose
Aneheim

This will be a fuckin awesome series. Aneheim will beat up San Jose, but Sharks take it in 6.

Detroit
Columbus

I'm happy CBJ is in the playoffs, but Detroit in 5. 6 at the most.

Vancouver
St Louis

St Louis sneaks into the 6th spot with a win over the Avs. Only to lose to Bobby Lou in 5

Chicago
Calgary

Another great series. Chicago beats Calgary in 7.

Still no love for my Blues? All they've done is post the best record in the NHL over the last half of the season at 25-9-7. On Feb.15, they were in 15th place in the Western Conference. Today, they shut out Colorado to earn the #6 seed and will lace 'em up against the Canucks in the first round. They are playing fast and loose and confident and have nothing to lose since they literally came back from the dead. Just making the playoffs is an amazing feat in and of itself but to earn the six-seed is nothing short of amazing. If there were no playoffs, their season is a tremendous success regardless. They are a very dangerous team right now.

As a life-long suffering Blues fan (42 years of futility and counting), I am fucking impressed! Way to go guys and congratulations on a magnificent job!

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
Ladies and Gentleman and kids alike. The real season is finally here. its now just a matter of hours before the shit gets crazy. so strap your seat belts on and let the games begin.

Since I am a homer. I will start by saying "Go Red Wings" you didn't provide any physical action for me to enjoy and you surely didn't provide me with fight filled games to go crazy over. so the least this REDWINGS team can do for me, is to put that chip on your shoulders or up your A$$. and win lords Stanley's cup again. Cuz if you don't. all I will say is FUCK ken holland. and thanx very much for the BORING A$$ season.:thefinger

So with that being said, I hope the playoffs are exciting and the refs don't fuck them up by calling WIMPY FUCKIN PENALTIES every fuckin game. :cussing: May the best team win.:glugglug::hatsoff:

My predictions for first round :

East :

1 Boston 4 ( boston are too tough for montreal and they have a much
8 Montreal 2 better goalie )

2 Washington 3 ( washington is a great team on offense but they have an
7 NY Rangers 4 average defense and their goalie sucks )

3 Newjersey 4 ( Brodeur will be too much for Carolina )
6 Carolina 3

4 Pitsburgh 4 ( Probably the best match up in the east , pitsburgh will
5 Philadelphia 3 have a tough time getting through this one. )

West :

1 San jose 4 ( a good series but San jose prevails because of their
8 Anaheim 2 Talent )

2 Detroit 4 ( Jackets will fall short because of their lack of playoff
7 Columbus 1 experience )

3 Vancouver 4 ( ST Louis will a be a tough opponent for Vancouver but
6 ST Louis 2 in the end Luongo > Mason . )

4 Chicago 4 ( This will be fun to watch , the young guns of the
5 Calgary 2 Black hawks will wear down Kipper in the end )

Time for season-end awards and playoff predictions:

Hart Trophy: Alex Ovechkin(WAS). Led the league in goals again, was the league's only 50-goal scorer, and finished second in points. Take him away from the Capitals and you've got a bottom-dweller without a doubt. Additionally, he's the league's best player. Other candidates: Zdeno Chara(BOS) - has no chance at all, but in my eyes he's an MVP candidate because he does so much for his team, Zach Parise(NJ) - established himself as one of the NHL's elite scorers this season, but the Devils success is all about defence and goaltending, Evgeni Malkin(PIT) - too bad Crosby's his teammate because that basically takes him out of the running for MVP, Henrik Lundqvist(NYR) - again, take him away from the team and they have no chance of being in the playoffs, Evgeni Nabokov(SJ) - too deep a team and missed time due to injury, so won't win and shouldn't win, Pavel Datsyuk(DET) - definitely deserves more consideration than he's going to get, Zetterberg had a slightly off season and Datsyuk picked up the slack; also, Datsyuk is one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL, so his value is through the roof, Roberto Luongo(VAN) - when he went out, the Canucks fell down the Western standings, after he came back they climbed back up and won the Northwest Division, but he did miss time due to injury, Jarome Iginla(CGY) - always a candidate, never wins, same story this year, Steve Mason(CBJ) - had an unbelievable rookie season, but he's no MVP yet.

Vezina Trophy: Evgeni Nabokov(SJ). Second in the NHL in wins, but his overall record is unbelievable: 41-12-8. His team won the Presidents' Trophy. It's a tough choice though because there are a lot of great candidates this season: Miikka Kiprusoff(CGY) - led the league in wins, otherwise he wouldn't be a candidate, Cam Ward(CAR) - great season for Ward, but he did lose a lot more games than Nabby, Henrik Lundqvist(NYR) - same story as Ward, Tim Thomas(BOS) - led the league in GAA and SV%, but he only played in 54 games, Roberto Luongo(VAN) - only played in 54 games also, Steve Mason(CBJ) - if this were a most valuable goaltender award, he'd get more serious consideration, but the award isn't defined that way, so he falls short in my eyes.

James Norris Memorial Trophy: Zdeno Chara(BOS) - the guy does it all. He probably won't win because Mike Green scored so much, but Chara does way more for his team and should win the Norris. Other candidates: Mike Green(WAS), Andrei Markov(MON), Nicklas Lidstrom(DET), Scott Niedermayer(ANA), Brian Rafalski(DET), Dan Boyle(SJ).

Calder Trophy: Steve Mason(CBJ) - no-brainer. There is no one else in the running. However, other good rookies this year were: Bobby Ryan(ANA), Kris Versteeg(CHI), Blake Wheeler(BOS), Pekka Rinne(NSH).

Jack Adams Award: Todd McLellan(SJ) - rookie Head Coach led his team to the Presidents' Trophy, while the team he left as Assistant Coach last season(the Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings) fell to second in the conference. Other candidates: Claude Julien(BOS), Joel Quenneville(CHI), Ken Hitchcock(CBJ), Mike Babcock(DET), Barry Trotz(NSH), Brent Sutter(NJ), Dan Bylsma(PIT) - is still an Interim Head Coach, Andy Murray(STL), Bruce Boudreau(WAS).

Predictions:

Sharks vs. Ducks - Sharks in 6, Anaheim will take it to them physically, but the Sharks are way too strong for the Ducks.

Red Wings vs. Blue Jackets - Red Wings in a sweep, I don't even see Mason stealing a win away in this one.

Canucks vs. Blues - Canucks in 5, the Blues won't be able to overcome Luongo.

Blackhawks vs. Flames - Blackhawks in 5, this won't be as good a series as people are expecting. Blackhawks beat the Flames 6-1, 5-2, 5-2, and 3-2 in OT during the regular season.

Bruins vs. Canadiens - Bruins in 5, Canadiens stumbled into the playoffs and are nowhere near on top of their game.

Capitals vs. Rangers - Capitals in 6, the Rangers only hope is if Lundqvist stands on his head to a degree no other goalie has ever done, because that's what they'll need to beat Ovechkin and the Caps, even with their weak goaltending.

Devils vs. Hurricanes - Devils in 5, the 'Canes won't be able to solve Brodeur.

Penguins vs. Flyers - Penguins in 7, this will be the best series of the opening round by far. Home-ice advantage will probably be important.

Second round(if my predictions hold true, which I'm sure they won't ALL do):

Sharks vs. Blackhawks - Sharks in 6, should be a good series.

Red Wings vs. Canucks - Canucks in 7, Luongo will be the difference.

Bruins vs. Penguins - Penguins in 6, they're playing some of the best hockey in the NHL right now and they'll be fired up after beating the Flyers.

Capitals vs. Devils - Devils in 6, poor goaltending will hurt them, the Devils do have some firepower on offence.

Conference Finals:

Sharks vs. Canucks - Sharks in 7, goaltending is a wash and the Sharks have much more firepower on offence.

Devils vs. Penguins - Devils in 7, should be an unbelievable series. Brodeur will, once again, make the difference.

Stanley Cup Finals:

Sharks vs. Devils - Devils in 7, guess who makes the difference again, Brodeur. Parise is going to have a monster postseason as well.

Conn Smythe Trophy - Martin Brodeur(NJ).

I am not gonna allow myself to be baited into arguments or start any major debates with you or anybody else's predictions. but IMHO the only team (in the west) that has any chance of beating the Red Wings in a 7 game series are the S.J. Sharks.

So I think the stanley cup finals will be either be the. Red Wings or Sharks vs. Bruins. All I can say about the Finals is may the best team win. GO RED WINGS :2 cents::D:hatsoff:

Huh no mention of the Art Ross? Even though it is a lock, it did go down to the last game of the season

I would agree, but there has just been too many times during the past two decades that the Red Wings have managed to underachieve in the playoffs somehow.

I agree. but they've also won it 4 times in the last 11 years. :yesyes::D:hatsoff:

and they still have more cups then anybody in the past 20 years.

:yesyes: GO Red Wings!. :bowdown::thumbsup:

I love this guy.

I wonder what it is like to be perennial "under achievers", but still be the most successful hockey team of the past 2 decades.
