Upsets. Often the top seeds have it wrapped up by February and the lower seeds are hot because they had to be hot just to make it in.

In the last 10 years in the NHL Play-offs the lower seeds win very often.

Series Winning Percentage in the First Round (last 10 years):

8 Seeds: 25%
7 Seeds: 50%
6 Seeds: 45%
5 Seeds: 30%

draft lottery results:

1. Islanders
2. Lightning
3. Avalanche
4. Thrashers
5. Kings

the same way they went into it.

hopefully we get Hedman :nanner:

Quick on the draw. Thought I'd be able to post that first.

Can't wait to see Tavares play.

Congrats to you Tampa fans, you're going to finally get some D.

Hopefully Duschene falls to L.A.

Tavares didn't look happy about the Islanders getting 1st.

Hextall looked like he was going to put on his Philly gear and take it off and beat someone up.

I love this guy.

I wonder what it is like to be perennial "under achievers", but still be the most successful hockey team of the past 2 decades.

Ahh yes the best of both worlds. in essence you can call allot of other teams UA's such as the sharks, as well as the flames, canadiens, senators, rangers, flyers, capitals, sabres, stars, and even the devils and avalanche for only winning it twice when they've had awesome teams over the past 10 - 15 years. :D:yinyang::glugglug::hatsoff:

haha ya really. if detroit are under achievers, so is every other team that has had a good season. good call.

Anyone can upset anyone. That's the beauty of this game.

All it takes is a hot goalie, slumping team, and a lucky break.

That's really what the Lightning need ( Hedman ) and what the islanders need ( tavares ) so each team is going to come out a winner from the draft. We will have a good powerplay once more next year :nanner:

yep. i forgot to mention Matt Smaby too. he's been a welcome surprise for us on the blue line.
