Breaking news from Tampa:

"The Lightning have recalled goaltender Karri Ramo and defenseman Jamie Heward from Norfolk of the American Hockey League. Heward is expected to play tonight in place of injured defenseman Lukas Krajicek (lower body) while Ramo is expected to back up Olaf Kolzig."

ummm...am i missing something? why is Smitty not the permanant starter? and why isn't he even back up??

okay, according to the game day charge on Tampa's sight, Smitty has a "slight lower body injury". nothing serious, he's being rested for tonight

it was 5-0 Devils. 7 minutes later, it's 5-3.

Malone just scored on a penalty shot. holy hell we have resilience

How can you manage to allow so many goals against... Devils?

Not to mention Brodeur isn't even in net, and Tampa couldn't even score!

that was the first time under Tocchet that they've been miserable. let's have no more of that shit.

Kolzig was pulled after 5 and Ramo allowed 2 more.

For a guy who said he wants to be the starter in Tampa , Kolzig is not helping his cause with horrible performances like this one against the Devils . Please Mike Smith , come back as soon as possible so we don't have to go through that again.

a few good things to say about that miserable game:

the alternate sweaters for the Lightning are outstanding. Ryan Malone should be considered for shootouts now as that was a textbook penalty shot goal. and now it seems that we use Joe Satriani's "Crowd Chant" for our goal song...frickin' awesome!

Am I the only Rangers fan on this forum? Lindqvist is the MVP of the club but they don't have anyone who can carry the team offensively. I hope Gomez will come back soon to provide some spark and help the team score, otherwise they'll need Lindqvist to carry the team if they want to make the playoffs.

Wade Belak has cleared waivers. :(

Another capable tough guy sent to the minors.

Claude Lemieux signs tryout deal with Sharks Monday, 11.24.2008 / 7:50 PM / News Associated PressSAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -Claude Lemieux has signed a tryout contract with the San Jose Sharks in hopes of returning to the NHL after a five-year absence.

The 43-year-old Lemieux is expected to report to the Sharks' AHL affiliate in Worcester this week, San Jose spokesman Scott Emmert said Monday.

Lemieux won four Stanley Cup titles during 18 NHL seasons with five clubs while earning a reputation as one of hockey's top agitators. He won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the NHL's playoff MVP in 1995 with the New Jersey Devils, and he also won championships with Montreal (1986) and Colorado (1996) before adding a fourth ring back with New Jersey in 2000.

His 80 career playoff goals are ninth in league history, but Lemieux hasn't played in the NHL since the 2002-03 season, which he spent with Phoenix and Dallas. Earlier this year, Lemieux played a two-game stint with the China Sharks, San Jose's affiliate in Shanghai, while gauging his ability to make a full comeback.

Lemieux is a longtime friend of Sharks general manager Doug Wilson, who has taken a chance on veteran players before. Defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh played 38 games with San Jose last season after few clubs were interested in the 35-year-old former All-Star.

:hatsoff: I'm a Rangers fan myself, they are in my top five teams at least. So don't worry, you are not alone here!

I known he was training and waiting for a NHL team phonecall but... i have to admit i was not expecting it would come from the Sharks.

Lemieux is a long-time favorite of mine (i remember his great years with the Habs) and i wouldn't be surprised to see hime come back with the Sharks as a 4th liner before the end of the season. That guy is a true warrior, a true competitor - let's hope his body will be able to follow his desires.

Wild almost blew it tonight. Up 4-0 with 5 mins left and win 4-3. How the hell do we barely beat a depleted Capitals team missing Semin, Green and Fedorov not to mention they lost 5-2 in LA and 7-2 in San Jose prior to coming here. There were also 3 closing hand on the puck penalties including 2 in a row on Washington which led to a 5 on 3 and ultimately the game winning goal was scored.

NY Islanders 4 vs Canadien 3 (SO)

Habs were leading 3-2 with 10 mins to go in the 3rd.

Then, the ref called a penality against NY Islanders so Carey Price headed to the bench... but... THAT happened...

...we eventually lost on the SO.

Man, when things are going wrong for a team, it's hard to beleive how creative ways can be found to lost games.

Poor Ryan O'byrne , I can't believe how awful he's been playing . They should send him to the AHL and use Mathieu Dandeneault as a defenseman again , he would do a much better job .
