what the fuck is wrong with Tampa this year?

*sigh*

Coaching?
Old legs?
Lack of puck-moving d-men?
Ryan overrated Malone?
Lecavalier not totally recovered from surgery?
Too many players out/players in in a short amount of time?

:o

:o

yes
kinda
defense has stepped up, but we lost a great one in Boyle
Malone has contributed physically and does add some offense
Lecavalier said his shoulder still kinda hurts but he's much better
and damn do we need Jeff Halpern back

the biggest problem is their offense oddly enough. they can put pucks on net, but are having a seriously difficult time putting it in net

oh, and wow! Mike Smith went apeshit there on Aaron Voros

Eh, I'm not so sure about that. Phoenix has played well as of late. Their PP has been pretty good too.

1-0 for the Canucks. Nothing special, but a win is a win.

I think it might have been simply that people had really high expectations that the team simply can't meet yet. They are practically a new team, it is going to take awhile for them to hit their groove. It is hard for a team that was at the bottom of the standing last year to come back and top the standings. The Lightning have some very good players, and their season has not been a total disaster so far. They are not leading the pack, but they aren't falling behind, either. There is alot of season left, at the end I think Tampa fans will consider this season a success.

They are a new team. The only offensive line they have that played together last year is Lecavalier-ST.Louis-Prospal. On defense , the only 2 d-man back this year ( and they never played together anyway ) are Paul Ranger and Mike Lundin. The other problem they have right now continues to be Melrose ; he doesn't use Lecavalier enough , he played less than Mark Recchi last night ( 18:09 for Lecavalier 18:20 for Recchi ) . Vinny has to play 20 minutes + each game , that's what he wants he said it in an interview recently. So untill Melrose understands what he needs to do to have his offense playing well again , or he gets fired , the team will have a very average offense and won't win many games. Mike Smith wasn't very good on some goals again last night.

Tonight: Habs at Colombus
Tomorrow: Habs at Toronto

Expectations? 2 (easy) wins :D

Tonight Jaroslav Halak is in goal (Price will be in charge at Toronto).
Healthy scratch: Steve Bégin (again...), Mathieu Dandenault and Ryan O'Byrne

By the way, today is the day where Jacques Plante used a mask for the first time. Kinda a *holy* day in NHL eh? :D

Anyone hear the rumors of Jim Balsillie buying the Canadiens? I wonder if he's going to try to move them to Hamilton...

Im listening radio actually and its the talk-of-the-town today in Montreal Sport community.

It seems like a stunt.

George Gillet even asked Gary Bettman to deny the story, which he did.

Balsillie is looking for a stunt. His name is everywhere and a picture of him with a BlueBerry with the Habs sign can be seen everywhere.

Balsillie is also sueing the journalist who released the story 'cause he deny having saying anything about Habs...

To be continued...

Why would he even want the team? The only reason Balsillie wants a team is so he can move it to Hamilton and have a financially-troubled franchise. If he did buy the team, and there was even a joke of him saying "Oh, Hamilton deserves the team", he's going to get laughed out of every owner's meeting. Leave the Canadiens alone and go back to Hamilton, I say. If you are going to joke about it, at least make it somewhat believable.

Habs is the 2nd most $$$ NHL franchise after Toronto according to Forbes magazine. Even if he buys the Habs off Gillet, it would be the stupidiest move ever to leave the Montreal market.

So, is it just me, or does it seem like hockey games are NEVER shown on TV? I'm not a big hockey guy, but I've been in the mood to watch a game or two. But, everytime I look for one on TV, there's nothing.

When do they usually show games and on what channels? My local channels here in Chicago advertise that they're going to show Blackhawks games, but they NEVER do.

Im not sure about Chicago Black Hawks, Chef.

There was a black-out of their games untill this (or last) year.

EDIT: Maybe you can found info on the Hawks official site? ( http://blackhawks.nhl.com/ )

No, they were third. The Rangers made more money...

But we are forgetting the fact that they would never approve a move like that.

For the past few years you had Bill Wirtz to thank for that. The man was a fucking idiot, thought that having the games on tv was unfair to the people who went to the games. They announced they would be shown on tv, though, so that's wierd.

Memory failed on me then. I was sure Habs were 2nd, right before NY... while it was the opposite :o

Well, third is not too bad! You guys are still on the podium.

And besides, the next Canadian team is the Canucks, and their eighth...

Yeah, on WGN and it's sister station, WCIU. Both of them are local Chicago stations that have been advertising Blackhawks games, but they're NEVER shown. I don't get it. Stupid idiots.

Have you checked the link i provided (ie, official Hawks site) if you can find any info, chief?

Habs game is about to start. Poor Colombus! :D
