Can Tampa Bay make their recent win seem like something more than a fluke?

Stay tuned for another 10 minutes of regulation to find out...

(Also, WTF Montreal? Can't win at home?)

Well, my Pens managed to bounce back tonight after that AWFUL performance Friday night! I'm not sure how far they can go without Crosby and Malkin...but, I'm sure they can go only as far as Fleury can take them & I'm enjoying it while I can. Pretty good game tonight...though it was "kinda" hairy going down the stretch! Ha ha ha!

Regarding Stamkos...I'm sure it would be a safe bet that he is playing with some undisclosed injury or something. He had something like 40 goals in like the 1st half of the season & then he barely scored 9 the rest of the way. One doesn't usually see that dramatic a drop off in production, especially in a solid player, unless there is something else that is amiss.:2 cents:

Get the brooms out and fear the winged wheel. AKA the diving swans. Yotes cant't beat em. refs can't beat em (at least in this round), can anyone beat them. Maybe..Their Mindset is good. (Unlike the reg season when they got over 100 pts for a record 11 th year in a row.) They seemed oddly disinterested. An 82 game season can do that to you.

Few teams in any sport can "flip the switch" and get it going. This teem can, did, and will. FEAR THE WING WHEEL!

Kunitz suspended 1 game for elbowing Gagné.

Downie suspended 1 game for charging(?) Lovejoy.

i'm trying not to be biased here, but even Ben Lovejoy said Downie shouldn't be suspended.

and Kunitz only getting 1 game for quite obviously sticking his elbow out and running it into Gagne's head is fucking stupid. Gagne is well known to have had concussion and neck issues.

there was more than one camera angle that showed Chris leaning into the hit before he made contact. 1 game is a joke

Wow, I was hoping that Chicago would win tonight - I don't think Vancouver would weather a long break in the playoffs, and if they won four in a row, they'd have too long a break.

So yeah, I was hoping Chicago would win, but wow, they are just raping Vancouver. The Canucks will win the series, for sure, but Chicago sure got their shot in tonight.

And, it seems to me that calls are going quite a bit in Chicago's favour. :2 cents:

i didnt think the canucks would show their true colors till 2nd round.

detroit can adjust to playoff hockey. the 'yotes' cant. ofcourse detroit will steam roll them.

Those aren't the Canucks true colours. That game was a fluke by Chicago and if you're expecting the same kind of showing from the Canucks in game five you are sorely mistaken.

we wont know till the next game.

i still dont see canucks in the conference finals. i thought they would sweep the hawks though.

they showed crumble quicker then i thought though.

It's a barn burner in LA tonight. 5-5 after two. Poor defense on both ends in this one.

best game of the playoffs so far.

also, this is very cool:

Rays to wear Lightning gear to Toronto

The Rays will wear Lightning t-shirts and caps on their trip to Toronto on Thursday as a show of support. "We want to show support to the boys,'' Maddon said. "They lost a tough one last night, but they're still in pretty good shape. I know Guy will rally the troops.''

Several Lightning players attended Saturday' Rays game as guests of Twins 1B Justin Morneau and wore Twins caps and shirts, but Maddon said he was okay with that. "We forgive them because we wore Blackhawks stuff (during last year's playoffs), let's move forward,'' Maddon said. "We're moving this thing along, we're putting the olive branch out there. We're good.''

Rays OF Matt Joyce hung a Lightning banner across several empty lockers in the Rays clubhouse also.

Downie clearly left his feet on that hit, which makes it an obvious charging penalty. As for his suspension, if it weren't for his notorious reputation as a dirty cheap-shot artist who intends to injure other players when he's on the ice, then he probably wouldn't have been suspended. If, for instance, Martin St. Louis had done the same thing, then there definitely wouldn't have been a suspension because St. Louis has quite the opposite reputation. However, that's what a player like Steve Downie gets for being the player he's been for so long. He's going to get suspended for anything illegal that could injure a player, so if he wants to avoid being suspended he has to play 100% clean hockey, which doesn't mean he has to stop checking other players, but it means that he has to make sure he does so in a clean manner. Scott Stevens did it for years and ended careers, which just goes to show that you can be a physical force on the ice without being dirty, which is something Steve Downie needs to learn.

players need to stop leaving themselves vulnerable and keep their eyes open.

its amazing how dumb they are.

i believe the victims are in the wrong just as much as the hitter.

For the Tampa Bay Lightning fans:

GM of the Year nominees were just announced:

http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/27694626/28678890

Steve Yzerman (TB), Mike Gillis (VAN), and David Polie (NAS). In his first year as GM of the Lightning, Yzerman should win GM of the Year; he made some excellent moves in the offseason and during the season (Brewer and Roloson were master strokes), and took this this team 25th in the NHL the year before to 8th in the NHL in one year. That is simply incredible. Gillis and Polie did great jobs as well, but the Canucks and Predators were both playoff teams to begin with. Yzerman should be the clear winner.
