The NFL, and even the NBA has teams in cities that aren't exactly considered that big relatively, and they make it. The biggest example I can think of is the Green Bay Packers. It seems more like a heartless marketing decision than one of actual sustainability if the league really wanted to make it work IMO.

The Green Bay Packers are owned by the season ticket holders,,,, Each ticket owner has a share in the team... If this set-up did not exist I doubt they would survive there...

Go Flyers ,,, Chicago looks sooooooo good right now,,, this series will be a bigger mountain to climb than the whole playoffs combined,,, but it should be a good series,,,,

Alright, 50% again! (every round so far, got exactly half the picks right, I have NEVER done so poorly in my predictions), so adjusted (not by a lot) predictions):

Stanley Cup Finals:
Chicago vs. Philadelphia: Chicago in 5. The Blackhawks are just so good. They are four lines deep and they have great D. If Niemi plays like he did in the series against the Sharks then the Flyers have no chance. The Flyers are pretty deep too, but the Blackhawks are more top-heavy with the likes of Toews, Kane, Hossa, Sharp, Keith, Seabrook, and Campbell. I just think they're so damn good. If it hadn't been for what I thought the Red Wings were I would have predicted the Blackhawks to come out of the West in the first place. I'd be happy (sort of) to see them win it too. If the Flyers win that'll suck. I hate them.

Conn Smythe: Jonathan Toews (such a good playoff for him).

I just want to say that the two teams with the biggest goaltending questions heading into the playoffs are now in the Stanley Cup Final.

Good choice by Tampa. Hopefully Yzerman can perform as well as Tallon will in Florida.

The bolts are going to announce Steve Yzerman as their new GM this afternoon.
That's just a great move , it shows Tampa is going in the right direction.

As a Wings/Yzerman fan all my life I can only wish Stevie the best. As much as I would have liked to see him remain with the Wings organization he deserves this chance. I'd like nothing more than to see him turn the Lightning back into a playoff team who can compete for a Cup. With a quality product on the ice the Tampa is a great market for the NHL. Hell I got three phone calls from family in Tampa who were jumping for joy at this news.

I don't know I'm just lookin for sigs and saw these. What's wrong with em?

Well, it's just that Kessel plays for the Maple Leafs now. I know it's hard to remember, what with the Leafs not fielding a NHL team this past season, but... Yeah.

I figured there might be a traded player or two, but there's still a couple of relevant ones. I'm trying like hell to find a Lundqvist but I'm not having any luck. Photobucket has a ton of shit but they won't let any of their stuff be posted here.

I've been reading a lot of stuff on Yzerman's new career choice. Seems like most people outside of Tampa are questioning the move. I think it is a good fit for Yzerman. He's seen what it takes to make a winning team in the NHL in the 27 years he's been with Detroit, and Tampa isn't missing that many pieces. The only thing keeping Tampa from being a solid playoff team is the lack of a number one goaltender and a couple holes on the defence (in my opinion). Both can easily be fixed this offseason. I don't think Yzerman will make many blockbuster moves, but the ones he does make will only strengthen the team. Besides, having someone with a real hockey mind at the helm will help bring the championship mindset back to the Bay. Not to mention it looks like the owner situation is finally getting sorted out. With Yzerman in Tampa and Tallon in Sunrise, the future of hockey in Florida is looking really bright from where I'm standing. Could Florida be the next Pennsylvania?

And for the two Tampa fanatics here, what do you think of this trade?

Or, if you can imagine:

Halak to Tampa for Lecavalier
