The new Rilo Kiley video has been put up on YouTube. Sporting a new sound and look from their previous work. I dig the Yeah Yeah Yeahs but I didn't really want to hear Rilo Kiley embrace that sound. Not really digging the Boogie Nights vibe.

Hmmmmmm. Didn't even realize that they had a new release coming up. Between The Elected and Jenny's excellent solo release they have been pretty busy. Not really digging this new song too much, but I'll have to give them the benefit of the doubt if for no other reason than their last CD "More Adventurous" was so good.

What in the hell is Jenny Lewis doing now? On Rabbit Fur Coat, she was trying to be alt-country. Now she's trying to be Karen O., and it really isn't working for me. Even the outfits reminded me of things Karen O. would wear.

Granted, I've never liked Rilo Kiley, so this is a major improvement over what they've done in the past. I liked the guitar work, but the vocals weren't doing it for me.

So I got the CD a few days ago and have given it a few spins. I wasn't thrilled at first but it is really one of those discs that you need to listen too a few times. While not as strong as their previous work it does have quite a few really good songs. "Silver Lining", "Close Call", "Dreamworld", and the title cut "Under the Black Light" are all standouts. I'm still not that into "The Moneymaker" but every disc can have one or two clunkers, right?

Jenny Lewis is stunning.. I wish she would pose nude or something.. I love her voice and the songwriting is fantastic. I've been listening to Execution of all things a lot.. and Silver lining is fun to play on guitar..

Well, we saw them last night. They were awesome, and Jenny was HOT in a low-cut black blouse and super-short black shorts with shiny sheer hose, showing off her long legs.
