In South Africa, on the day the ANC came into power, people cried. They breathed a sigh of relief. they rejoiced. Black and White.
However.......right until this day "The White Man" is blamed for, like, everything. Probably with good cause.

The ruling party of Xhosa/Sotho shot a few rounds at Zulu protesters on that day outside Shell House. This the ANC have never truly accounted for. The fact is there was racial violence between Zulu's in Natal and the Xhosa and Sotho nations for decades before 1994 elections.

It isn't about Black or White, it is about power.

The racial violence - local Blacks against immigrants, tension between the ruling party and Zulu, is still there. The Coloured - a term meaning interracial - and the Indian were marginalised until they started making their voice heard, saying how they had also taken part in the struggle. Basically job and promotion opportunities were given to ANC card carrying members for quite a few years. I worked for a company that had its entire lucrative cell phone line go entirely down the tubes because their new affirmative action manager refused to employ Whites, i.e., those who actually had experience. He did not balance. I hope the same does not happen in the States. I vividly remember a clerk, who really, I am not being nasty or lying here, did not know how to use a paper punch, being promoted to manager over me. He was in his early 20's.

Now, Blacks and Whites truly want to work together to build a nation. The ANC let crime slide out of control. 25 000 farmers were slaughtered while the government sat idly by. (By the way, the gov would loudly proclaim their innocence all the while so they West would still give handouts). People were murdered in their driveways on the way to work or coming home. Babies are raped there.

Nevertheless, Blacks in that country started taking the opportunity to better themselves. It's just the old school Blacks and their youth cromies who still try stir up dissension.

In the States, I encountered more ugly, vivid racial hatred than I had ever known possible. That was until Obama became President. Now, Black folk have calmed down. They are happy. They saw the vaunted electoral process work, however lopsided it may be.

Let's not forget the 90 year old Black gentleman who lived to see a Black President come into power in the USA.

I do not forget how I saw Black people in South Africa change their clothing from dull black, grey, and dark green to the beautiful, coloured clothing they wear today. I saw the will of a nation to forgive, to forget, thanks to the Truth And Reconciliation Commission, something that the USA could truly use.

Thanks to constant bombardment from the media of "We Are One," and "The Rainbow Nation," people began to change their perception.

And, for one brief, glorious moment in human history when we saw not a Black man, but a President who left his mark on a nation by sheer presence of personality. We didn't see a Black man, we saw Nelson Mandela.

"These are the days of miracles and wonders don't cry baby, don't cry, don't cry." (Paul Simon).

What are you talking about?! That wasnt even the point I was trying to make!

It wasnt about "which race is more racist? Black or white?". It was about somone questioning if Obama should be considered black. Next time read before you reply.

Also, to your comment, I don't think thats totally true. Racisim can be crazy in the south(Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi) towards blacks. I think why some black people can be racist is because it's like pay back, which is totally not right and Im sorry for you... But it's ignorant to say blacks are the most racist, because thats not true.

I would concur that blacks are probably equally racist to whites, if not, a LOT more. Who voted Obongo in power? +90% of blacks and HELLUVA LOT of whites. With that, I concur that blacks are probably a lot more racist than whites. I'm not even getting into black-on-white violence that is absolutely rampant today in America. Could a white person walk down your garden variety black neighborhood at 3 in the morning without worrying? Abosultely not. Could a black man walk down a street in any white neighborhood at 3 in the morning without being robbed, beaten, raped or murdered? Of course. And if you get fucked with by cops, don't bitch, because I'm in the inner city and anybody (white black, yellow, whatever) gets fucked with by them if your'e out at that time in my hood. But that's not really the point, is it...

90% of black voters voted for Gore.
88% voted for Kerry.
With that, we can all concur that your rationale is bogus.
Looks like you'll have to manufacture a different justification.

I have many times. In fact, my old neighborhood was predominantly black and latino, I think there may have been two other white people that lived there, out of say, 30 or so people. Pretty much every night I went out for a walk down to the convenience store at 3 am, because I like going for walks when I'm bored and can't sleep. I never had a single problem.

I think that you might have a better shot at it if you take off your hood and robe.

Congratulations, you've raised the bar for posting ignorant and hateful shit on this board.

I knew a girl who was raped in a white neighborhood! Plus I was constantly teased and followed when I walked home from elementary school in a white neighborhood. I was once beaten, which was why we moved!

I'm rather confused about what you are trying to say here. are you claiming that any Americans who are not immediately related to Africans are not black? couldn't you say that most of them aren't white either, in that they are not immediately related to Europeans in the same way.

5 other what's? If you are talking about John Hanson (elected in 1781), there were six other people to hold the title President before Congress after him (serving one year terms) before Washington was elected in 1789.

I mean they are all biracial, so Obama would technically be the 6th biracial president, and 7th if you included John Hanson.

In the U.S. people who are called black were almost always associated with African slaves, or those mixed with African blood. This is where your PC term 'African American' comes from. The same term that's on all of your registration forms for every legal government document. Calling someone black just because of their skin color e.g. they came from Brazil, or Hawaii, or Morocco, Trinidad, India etc. is a term typically used by racists and uneducated people. The news media made Obama the 'black' president. They didn't say African American. Personally I have not looked up his bloodlines, but at best he is half African, but his father is suspected to be mixed with some form of Arab ancestry. Again I don't know if that's true because I didn't have enough interest to research it, but nevertheless he is biracial, not 'black'. Black is not a race.

Try Cabrini Green, Compton or Queens Bridge, and post here if you make it out alive. :glugglug:

 It's funny, because I'm what a lot of people would've called a "wanna be" in Jr. High. You know, listening to rap, wearing Dickies...the whole nine. I still bump the shit out of my rap - I've got a few hundred albums. Mostly black artists. I even used to go to my local club for all kinds of black acts (Mobb Deep, Big Timers, T.I., Obie Trice, to name a few). Not even getting into the Al Green and Hendrix albums I play pretty regularly. Never really considered myself racist, just call things the way I see them. If a person is cool with me, I'm cool with them.

Technically "black" is a race. It can describe anyone with african decent.

If you're black and American, then you're African American(even if 100%, 50%, or 25%)

OK, well I have tried it in Compton and east LA, so I guess beers are on you.

precisely how long is it going to take for me to get killed for being white in a "garden variety black neighborhood", so that I can prove your theory? I don't have a lot of patience.

It's all about respect. Sure, white dudes who are known in the hood are likely going to be able to walk there. Two of the dudes I used to get my weed from were black, and they had my back. But if you are just a regular white dude, or moreover, a female, you're odds are better that something bad would happen to than not in some of the black hotbeds. If you disagree, then whatever. B-W versus W-B violence is, I believe, 17 times higher, and anyone here who disputes that can google the color of crime. Those are all facts in that document.

The point is he said technically, black is a race, it is not. The only sense that one could use the term 'black' is by the color of their skin, which is not indicative of their race or their ethnicity. It is not technical, and neither is it accurate, and furthermore even the government itself doesn't even use the term.

My question was, what do you call Asians then according to this theory of color? Or Native Americans? If you were in Japan, and talking to your friend, would you say, "yeah man I met this yellow guy here, he's totally cool"?

And another question, if there is only black and white, where do all the hundreds of ethnicity's fall on this spectrum?
