Misconceptions About Porn Stars

Reading this post made me realize that I have no misconceptions or conceptions about porn stars at all.
I actually don't think about any of that shit.

Why do people think that they know how a person is by what they do for a living? Someones job does not make them who they are. You take any job you can think of and there are thousands of reasons why some people would do it and some wouldn't. A lot of people think that all police officers have a chip on their shoulder and just like being a dick. Some do, most don't. Judge people as individuals not by how they make a living. The adult industry is just like any industry in that you have good and bad aspects of doing business. I don't assume to know anything about anyone in any industry unless I deal with them personally. (well except politicians, they are all assholes)

Kimora, thanks for posting this.

Maybe I'm weird, but I like getting to know the porn stars as people - their likes and dislikes, etc. Granted, I only know them through the limitations of Twitter, but Twitter does allow at least a bit of their personality to show.

I guess the bottom line is that they are not as different as I once thought. They really do put their pants on one leg at a time.

And I would really like to have a beer (well actually a root beer*) with Kimora!

I think that a lot of what people think about porn stars is wrong. I have known this for a awhile and this board reaffirmed it. Most porn stars are people who enjoy what they do and have no so called "horror stories" for getting into the business. They are people who lead normal lives like the rest of us, the one big differance is their job is having sex. They are the type of people who you could sit down and have a beer with and be great friends.

I truly believe that there are people out there that don't see you girls as real people. Just because your job is having sex on camera, doesn't mean you are like that in your personal life. I would only give one bit of advice,
empowerment - I read that a lot in this industry, to me empowerment is not happiness whether it's power from porn or playing golf.

With any Job and in life,
We should all keep in mind that you can't find happiness in drugs or alcohol abuse, with out sediment diamonds are just rocks, mansions are lonely if not shared.
Staring at 100,000 Fans and hearing them chant We love you will never equal hearing one simple soft voice saying mommy, i love you.

If a woman chooses to do porn, I hope it would be for the money.
and for a lot of money. I hope in the mind of the actress it is taken seriously as a business to secure her well being and her family in retirement. Paying for college isn't enough.
I hope money made would be stored away and when the time comes a new and better book will open.

It doesn't matter what we think, it will be how you think of yourself looking back when the time comes. So do it for the right reasons while we enjoy the view.

I probably have some preconceptions of what kind of people work in porn, but they´re based on personal experience. It´s happened several times that models/webmasters have contacted me and asked if i could make some wallpapers or some other type of graphics for their sites and when i have asked for some sort of compensation for doing so they´re suddenly not interested any longer. Apparently some people think that if you take your clothes off on a pornsite it means that people should work for you for free.

#4 is easy. Whatever reason most of them say they do it for in the end for about 99% of them it comes down to money.

Also, saying pornstars might be safer than a random chick at a bar as far as STDs go is damning with faint praise. AIM isn't anything to write home about either.
