Mustain got kicked from metalica and created his oun better band that rocked harder and continues to rock harder than Metalica ever could
Okay, I don't wanna be the ass here, but here's the deal: if you gonna start such a thread, at least make sure you got the band names right. Anything looking funny to you in the title and your first post?
And just for the sake of it, you've also spelled Mustain
e wrong...
METALLICA evolved into a megalomanic superpower while MEGADETH stayed grounded and never went too far away from its roots of Speed Metal. I think that METALLICA's black album is a masterpiece, but of course lightyears away from the first four full length releases, even though
...And Justice For All was a first step into that direction, e.g. "
One". As someone put it already here, it's not a bad thing if a band evolves unless it evolves into dogshit, and everything that came after the black album is a pile of shit to me. Well,
Death Magnetic on the other hand isn't too bad, but fans from the early days, like me, will have to keep the old records playing, which isn't a bad thing, because even after the 100th time of listening to
Ride The Lightning it doesn't get boring. For me personally Dave Mustaine has also done exactly that with MEGADETH, I'm still all over
Killing...,
Peace Sells... or
So Far..., I even like the much hated
Rust In Peace album, and I think
Countdown To Extinction can be seen as some kind of evolvement, because it has another flair to it than its predecessors, and
Youthanasia too, but then I lost my interest in MEGADETH completely because after listening to
Cryptic Writings I didn't even remember one song, and that's a bad bad sign, and so I haven't heard a single tone from their following albums. It's the same with SLAYER, after
Seasons In The Abyss I was pretty much done with them, but what they have produced before is groundbreaking and quite historical for the Metal world.
Anyhow, I think that METALLICA's success is based on the black album, because it is the one that glues the musical history of the band together. To say that every old school METALLICA fan was stoked about it would be some kind of stretch, but enough people from the old days liked it, but most imprtantly (for the band) it brought masses of new fans in, and from there on it was megalomania.
The only band from "the big four"...Anthrax...
Some might argue with you there that the fourth band of 'the big four' should be TESTAMENT.
