In my humble opinion its mags like NUTS and ZOO that have the biggest backward effect on the porn industry in the UK.
these are the reason that 90% of all UK top shelf mags are full of girls from Eastern Europe, cause all the good home grown talent `want to be in Nuts or Zoo or some other waste of time `Lads mag` where they can get away with, well basically nowt.

I think you're right to a certain extent in that there are a lot of homegrown girls who aspire to be in "Lads' mags" and wouldn't be seen dead in, say, "Men Only" but I'm not sure that they would have done top shelf even when there were no Loadeds or the like.
The thing with porn in the UK is that there is just so much of it now. Not that long ago, there might have been ten or so mags and some very soft core or censored videos - now, with all the US mags, there might be a choice of thirty with still ten or so from the UK and of course both UK produced and foreign DVDs.
And then there's the internet of course - I think some of the best places to find British girls in compromising positions are

The one positive thing to say re the Lads mags is that I'm sure we see a lot more really nice girls at least topless than we did before the mags existed. And they give us lots more of the likes of Lucy Pinder than we would get otherwise.
PS - I also think that UK top shelf mags use a lot of Eastern European girls because, 1, the girls are stunning and, better than that for them, the photos will be much cheaper than hiring a UK photographer to take pics of a girl in a UK studio.
