Re: Should Prostitution be Legalized in the US?
Legalizing prostitution isn't going to improve the safety of the prostitutes by any means. In fact, it would probably make it more violent and unsafe.
Once prostitution would be legalized, think of how many businesses would come out of the woodwork. All of these businesses would then be in direct competition with one another. Just because prostitution would then be legalized, it wouldn't change the fact that the whole "industry" would be completely cut-throat and dangerous.
If it was legal, than there would be even MORE money to be made, so these business owners (pimps) and employees (prostitutes) would fight even harder with one another to make that money.
Plus, most of the prostitutes who are currently walking the streets would be fucked (not literally). If prostitution was legalized, businesses would open up and they would hire only the most attractive looking women (and men) in order to be able to charge the most money for their services. Then, what happens to the trashy, beat up street walkers who can't compete with Little Miss Perfect? Seriously, who is going to pay $100 to get a blowjob from some ugly, middle aged piece of trash with scabby skin and a torn up pussy, when they can pay $100 to get a blowjob from a "perfect looking" 19 year old blonde who has the body of a Goddess? :dunno:
The "original" street walkers would be thrown out onto the curb and probably be forced into immediate homelessness. Not to say that prostitutes aren't homeless to begin with, but their situation would be made a hundred times worse if prostitution was legalized.
