U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen late Monday ruled in favor of Texas and 25 other states that challenged President Obama’s executive action on immigration, according to a statement from Gov. Greg Abbott.

“President Obama abdicated his responsibility to uphold the United States Constitution when he attempted to circumvent the laws passed by Congress via executive fiat, and Judge Hanen’s decision rightly stops the President’s overreach in its tracks. We live in a nation governed by a system of checks and balances, and the President’s attempt to by-pass the will of the American people was successfully checked today. The District Court’s ruling is very clear — it prevents the President from implementing the policies in ‘any and all aspects.’ “

How did they find a judge who wasn't a democrat activist?

Easy, a hell of a lot of them were activist appointed by Bush 43, Bush 41 and Reagan!
I didn't think a Federal Judges ruling could affect states out of their Judicial District, otherwise when one judge ruled in favor of gay marriage it would have been law in all 50 states.

That's our system at work, awesome. Is the issue dead? I doubt it, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if amnesty was turned into deportation and all the illegals sent the fuck back. They're criminals by virtue of the fact that they're here illegally. If an American tried to illegally immigrate to Mexico they would be sent to Mexican prison (fun), and if they survived that ordeal sent the fuck back.

A single U.S. District Judge can cancel a decision from the President, in 25 states ?!

Not ultimately. It'll be put on hold until further hearings. Postponement, the hallmark of the American judicial system.

I thought financial settlement was hallmark of the American judicial system...

No many of them are not! It's a basic principal of our legal system that consciousness of the crime is necessary to be guilty of a crime. Therefore people who were brought here as children can't be considered guilty of illegal immigration. Many of them didn't even know they were not born here until applying for a college loan, getting a drivers license, etc. They don't have any memory of a previous country and some don't even know what country they were born in. Do you expect Mexico to take just anybody the US says shouldn't be here?

The U.S. should mirror exactly the immigration laws of our good neighbors to the south. Except for the whole raping of young women and accepting bribes, of course. If they complain about it tell them to reform their own fucking system. It's fucking ridiculous that we even have a dialogue with Mexican authorities about the matter.

Quantify "many". I agree that children who were brought here illegally and grew up identifying as Americans should have a path to citizenship, but that's not to say that illegals should be able to bring their children and get a free cut in line. I doubt the number of children brought here illegally and grew up identifying as Americans and are now having problems because they're undocumented is statistically significant. Don't forget I live in a border state and I embrace the Mexican culture which is abundant where I live, however, most of the illegals here came over here childless and didn't have children until after they crossed the border, those kids are citizens by virtue of the fact that they were born here. I've read about some GOP sponsored legislation that would make children of illegals born here illegal, too, do you think that's a measure too far?

Federal courts are utilized to decide constitutional issues. This judge simply issued a ruling on the federal level that forces it to be decided by another court. That is how a decision like this affects other jurisdictions. The difference in the decision as opposed to same sex marriage is that this was a decision addressing executive ammesty directly at the source whereas same sex marriage challenges were in fact handed down in the jurisdictions where the issue was brought forth and is working its way up the federal courts instead of addressing an executive decision at the highest level. This decision impedes amnesty simply because it starts the ball rolling for challenges and they take time. Probably past Obama's two years left in office.

Beautiful post.

The case against executive amnesty is a strong one. I seriously doubt that those opposed to this executive order will be on the losing end even if the Supremes end up deciding it. This has serious ramifications for future presidents and even the liberals on the court will take that into consideraton when deciding this issue. I feel pretty confident that the Obama administration is going to lose this one.

I don't mind seeing Obama get handed his ass on this one, if all the fights conservatives have picked had the same merit I might not be a democrat.
