Yes, there is life after death. Where were you, before this life? Before you existed, where were you? Answer: You were there were you again will be when you are death. So, no need to get sad. Because you come from this "place" of totally death and now, you are here, and, are you dead? No, you are still alive.

I don't think there is "life after death"...but I don't know.

:dunno:

The belief in an afterlife is the ultimate expression of Human arrogance. People just find it hard to accept the fact that one day they will be gone and life is going to continue without them.

I've always wndered why there isnt some sort of life before birth. I mean what is there before were born, is there just black nothingness. Or is there something we cant remember??? I've always wondered this. I do believe in ghosts by the way.
yankee....before we were born, I believe we were living another life

Arrogance?

I wouldn't use that strong of a word. It's just about having a little bit of hope, or faith.

A human has more than a body and a brain, it has a soul. Silly to think a soul can just disappear once the body dies...

Why is it without hope to beleive you live and then you die like every other animal.I am really tempted to put up the question is the afterlife or soul thing exclusively human?I would imagine it is according to most. Then what we are really into is religious dogma. Then you have to deny evolution as we could never have just been some animal without a soul and divine spark.I agree this is all a form of arogance to think we are that special.

The idea of having a "soul" has never made much sense to me and personally, I don't buy into the whole idea (not to say that it's wrong). I have always been to understand that humans have souls and when we die, our soul with either go to Heaven or Hell.

It was already said, but what about animals? What about plants? What about micro-organisms? They're all living creatures...do they have a soul? If I step on an ant and kill it, will it's soul travel to the afterlife? I don't know...there are just no definitive answers that can be found and it makes everything seem so wish-washy to me.

Every aspect of religion (especially the afterlife) differs from one person to the next. No one has the same exact beliefs and no one "practices" religion in the same way.

I personally believe that the idea of an afterlife is used by a lot of people in order to give them something to look forward to when they die.

I believe that there is but I won't know till I get there.

Most of us are familiar with the story of the Prince who was turned into a frog. As a frog the Prince was still the Prince trapped in a frog. To believe this you would have to accept the idea of the Ghost in a machine. In other words, mind body dualism with a sprite that is a separate entity from the body and can exist outside the body. Research of the brain seems to indicate that this is false. They can see and measure brain activity when stimulated. They can even insert rods and guide emotions and thoughts. Anyone who has ever taken drugs knows how the brain can be altered to elicit uncharacteristic behavior that a separate sprite should be immune to. Consciousness or life is the constantly reiteration of a neurological state. When that biological state can not be reiterated we are brain dead. The ghost in the machine is gone. When the body finally dies we are totally dead. The mind and the body are one. To believe we survive our body is not arrogance but hubris.

I chose "Maybe yes, maybe no".

I'm surprised by that.

I believe in ghosts and reincarnation and such like.

Yet...I'm afraid that once you're dead, you're dead, and I can't reconcile my thoughts.

And if you're famous enough, you live on in books and whatnot loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong after you've kicked the bucket.

History, people.

I think we all live in matrix !!!

Seriously I'd say there is no life after death. If that is the case I'd say we can rule out world peace since the retalliations for last life will never stop! (just contradicted myself there.... lol)

yes, there is life after death...a lot of worms will be in your cage eating you ..and that´s life :p
