I wouldn't want to bring a baby into that environment. Plus think about the hygiene. I don't people are going be showering every day like we do now. We might have to go a few days without a shower. The stench might be unbearable.

Ever seen Book of Eli? :eeew:

Seriously, only me on procreating?? What have we become? Are we so selfish that the atavic instinct of preservation is gone from us? What do you do when you're left 100k in the whole world, stone age scenario. What's that OTHER? I'm really curious. And especially: how do you intend to preserve the knowledge of mankind if you don't procreate? And...are you plan to eat all day long? There's not gonna be a couch and football or baseball on tv you know?

Are you fucking kidding me? Let's make more people before we look for food? Is your thinking to make more poeple and worry about feeding them later?

Speaking of apocalypse.....

Enjoy the food when you go extinct.
If during 2nd world war people were thinking like you there wouldn't have been any economic boom in the 50's. Countries in recession these days are those where procreation growth rate is zero or close to zero. You get old and have food, but a bunch of younger and stronger hungry and angry kids come and take your food and not only that. There's no being in nature weighting food heavier over procreation and it has always been like that also for human beings throughout history. I was just surprised that obviously some human beings start thinking different.

Several firearms with plenty of ammo. (thugs and zombies will be roaming the neighborhoods attempting to take anything they want.) Don't expect the cops to be there in 3.7 minutes. They will be tied up with more serious shit than worrying about YOU and the creep trying to break into your home.

Remember Hurricane Katrina? Rapes, looting, murders, etc. I am so freaking glad I have guns and that I know how to use them. By then, the only thing money will be good for is wiping your ass. Let's say the guy down the street has extra food. Let's say I wanna "buy" some from him. He won't want money. But, if he is a gun owner he might trade some food for some of my ammo. I'd be glad to make that trade.

Calm down, don't get too excited...it's not going to happen for granted...it's just a thread about a fantasy scenario ;)

WW1, WW2, And even the future WW3, wont bring us into an apocalyptic world. As long as people are able to communicate civilization will carry on. An apocalyptic world would be us few lucky ones able to crawl out of our bunkers to face the mass devastation. Buildings are just a pile of dust. No trees. No grass. No wires. We all gather in the street now and you raise your hand up and say,"Before we look for food, lets have more babies" Justify that.

I'll make it simpler. It is you and your man coming out of the bunker. All alone. Do you look for food or make a baby?

I can't believe this deep discussion has all come from a joke from the "Big Bang Theory." :1orglaugh

Sheldon: Last question. In a post-apocalyptic world, which task would you assign the highest priority? Locating a sustainable food source, reestablishing a functioning government, procreating, or preserving the knowledge of mankind?

Leonard: Uh, I'm gonna go with preserving the knowledge.

Sheldon: That's correct. FYI, I would have accepted any answer other than procreating.

I obviously look for food and then first available break i jump on his cock and get pregnant. Sorry, but if you put it that way i have to put it this way. I understood the original question and poll on longer and wider terms, not on " we just got out of the bunker, so now what? what's for dinner?". Otherwise Re-establishing a functioning government, Procreating and Preserving the knowledge of mankind wouldn't make any sense at all in the poll, unless you wanna re-establish a govrnment by dinner being just you and your wife who just came out of the bunker alive. On a longer and wider term i rest my case: maintaining and rebuilding the species have the priority over other long term plans; in case of lack of food you don't stop procreating: you rationate it giving more to youngsters and women and less to elders. Elders are an acceptablòe loss in that sistuation, while youngsters and women are much in need to get more chances to rebuild, create, find and maintain those sustainable food sources, re-establishing a functioning government, preserving the knowledge of mankind.

Obviously if you talk about making sure to get a decent dinner that day, i'd probably go looking for food, but that has nothing to do with sustainability. Hey, of course my 2 cents...nothing to fight about, right? ;)

Dammit i MUST goto bed...it's so late i wanna cry... Good night peeeeps!

I don't eat any processed or canned foods, so that'd have to change pretty fast..

DAMN.

I always ask my vegan gf a similar question, as we both love apocalyptic scenarios. She stands by the fact that if the world were ending, she'd stand by her lifestyle decision and not eat any animal product.

I call bullshit.

As for the OP, a sustainable food source is the only logical choice from the poll. Procreating? How is that beneficial? Government and knowledge fall behind self survival, IMO.

Securing a stockpile of ammo. Everything else will take care of itself when you have the firepower.

Quite pragmatic, indeed. But kinda depressing to think that, in such ac situation, firepower can solve all your problems...
