Poindexter... let's use this for an example. Let's say you are the fellow on the receiving end of that knuckle sandwich. The guy with the sunglasses that has a viscious right-cross just laid you out because his girlf friend ran off with the meth dealer, leaving Mr. Fisticuffs wandering aimlessly in a crowd of people whom he really doesn't like. You being one of them.

After he lays you out, we will assume he continues wailing on you. Your "friends" run away, not wanting anything to do with Mr. Knuckle Dragger. Meanwhile, all the money that your parents invested in your pearly whites when you were a kid, are now scattered all over on the ground.

After he's finished with you, you find yourself living in a hospital for the mentally disabled, eating your food through a straw for the rest of your life.

Hey, I have no problem if a person chooses to not arm themselves. However, I take offense when someone like you tells me I shouldn't be allowed to defend myself. That is a call that you can NEVER make on another law abiding citizen.

You choose to live your life the way you want to, and I'll live my life the way I want to.

It's not that I choose not to arm myself. I am legally prevented by my government from doing so, and rightfully.

Because this is not the wild west my friend. Where I live, Mr. Fisticuffs would be quickly and efficiently subdued by the authorities.

Suppose instead that Mr. Fisticuffs was mentally ill and ran out of medication. He approaches you in a manner that you see as threatening. He reaches for you, and you shoot him dead.

But all he wanted was a cigarette.

You see? I too can make up scenarios to back my opinion all day like you do. Things that will likely never happen.

So stop doing it. You'll never convince me that your 'way of life' is in any way virtuous.

Use your head, just for a second. Forget what you've been taught.

Think of the nice bike you could buy if you sold all your weapons.

Ok why tell him to stop convincing you when you are doing the same to him? Just agree to disagree and call it a day :)

Why would someone reach our for you if they want a smoke? What ever happened to the word "please"?

I've noticed the Swiss Army Knife on the rifle...what if a person could sneak up on the guy, take his knife and stab him with it?

And is that supposed to be a bird on top of the scope?

You also don't have every race and nationality on the planet living within 5 feet of each other. Just adding that for perspective.
In the UK we do.

 How can you be paranoid carrying a weapon?

It's our right to carry a weapon and we do not need a license.

Why do the police carry one? Don't tell me it's their job. :nono:
In the UK they don't (unless on specific special duties)

Wrong! Just one dead person. The moron. You see, I was defending myself from a crazed person who pulled a gun on me and shot at me for no reason other than "thinking" I was going to do harm to him. I simply acted in self defense. A person is not allowed to walk up to someone and crack their head open with a baseball bat simply because they "imagined" that person had bottle of sulfuric acid in his pocket, and was afraid said person was going to spike the punch.
Hmmm. That makes 2 people both acting in self defence.

That's fine... that's your right to not own guns. I choose to own guns. Every gun except the one I carry daily is in a gun safe. You see, I am a responsible gun owner. I'm not some gangster wannabe who flashes his gun in public. I carry concealed, and at any given time, I bet there are people carrting a gun concealed where you are and you don't even know it.
If they are, then they are doing so illegally and are subject to arrest and imprisonment.

What is then? And just for reference, the Castle Doctrine actually does give one the right to use deadly force during a home invasion, considering it lawful self-defense, and ultimately, justifiable homicide.
I suggest you actually read overview. You cannot just shoot someone for entering your home. And if you do kill someone, you WILL be charged and you WILL stand trial, it WILL ruin your life, you WILL need professional psychiatric help to deal with that fact that you took a persons life, and you just MIGHT get off going to prison by using the Castle Doctrine as a defence in SOME states.

Surely you noticed my sidearm... That would be my Springfield XD-45. With or without it, I'm harmless to the population. I only carry it to defend myself. What part of that DON'T you understand?

If I'm downtown and a thug pulls a knife on me and wants my wallet, he's going to die.... from lead poisoning.
Unless of course, he is not on his own, and the other thug standing quietly behind you that you have not noticed, stabs you in the back and the steal, not just your money and your life, but your firearm as well. Giving up your wallet is far cheaper, you will almost certainly get your money back (assuming that you have insurance), and you will still be alive. Also you will not have to deal with the mental problems that accompany killing someone, and the huge amount of cash that your psychiatric visits will cost you.

You may notice that I have brought up the subject of mental issues after killing someone a couple of times here. This is something that is nearly always overlooked. Soldiers are trained to kill, and even then most will not aim to kill. The thinking goes that as you are not the only one shooting, someone else can actually do the killing - this is just human nature. Less than 10% of soldiers actually aimed at their enemy during the 1st and 2nd world wars (where the armies were mostly conscripts).

Keltec PF9 for daily concealed carry.
Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm for sometimes carry - harder to conceal.
Springfield XD .45 Tactical - big handgun.
Ruger Mk III 22/45 Target model - fun/inexpensive shooting.
Webley .45 revolver
Webley .38 revolver
Colt 1851 Navy model .36 cal percussion revolver (manufactured in 1866) fun to shoot - big boom, lots of white smoke.
Several long guns/center fire
Several long guns, .22 cal rimfire
Two Winchester pump shotguns (12 Gauge)
One Stevens double barrel shotgun (12 Gauge)

Ppl. who live in a country where guns are forbidden better keep their mouths shut .....

Lock your door and call the police - it works.

Time for the police to arrive at your house after a call to 911 - 3 to 10 minutes - if you're lucky.

Time for a bullet to leave the muzzle of my handgun and arrive at the intruder who has broken into my house and is threatening my family and me - a couple of milliseconds.

I think if someone carries a weapon around, he makes a serious decision. Because if you have a deadly weapon on you, you have to be very aware of it and not get distracted, because, especially in crowded situations, it could get stolen, and who know what a thief does with that weapon, which is registered on you?

And can you be sure you do not get carried away in a heated argument or other situation? You can become the person that does not walk away from it but blows a fuse and do harm, or even kill the other person.

Reading some posts in here, I think it might just be a matter of time until that happens to some of us gun-owners.

Another point: With all those weapons and ammo in your home, is the whole artillery locked up secure? You can provide a LOT of firepower to some gang etc. when they get their hands on that stuff. I suppose you do talk about your weaponry not only on internet forums.

Plenty of security holsters out there. And it's not like you're not going to notice someone tugging a couple of pounds of metal out of your belt.

And can you be sure you do not get carried away in a heated argument or other situation? You can become the person that does not walk away from it but blows a fuse and do harm, or even kill the other person.

That's a strawman argument. Plenty of people have been beaten to death with blunt objects (including frozen poultry, look it up), stabbed with knives and screwdrivers, or come to harm in hundreds of ways after heated arguments. People that shoot know what kind of destructive power they have, they know the noise they are going to make doing it and are no greater threat to do harm than a person standing next to the knife block.

Again, it's going to happen whether there's a gun around or not.

Plenty of ways to secure your firearms. In terms of gangs, they already have the guns. Some of them are from home robberies. Sorry about that. But in this world we live in, anyone who wants a gun can get one, and that is not the fault of the 2nd Amendment. Arms dealing and gun dealing are universal.
