Blue.....

I apologize for firing back at you in the gun thread. I appreciate your knowledge of the 2nd Amendment. I respect your opinions and your understanding of it.

By the way, I was a member of the NRA for ten years... but, cancelled my membership about seven years ago. I am more involved with a local gun rights group - Rocky Mountain Gun Owners.

Peace.

Yeah I think there is really no reason for the public to be able to have fully Automatic weapons like the Military and Swat teams have. If the public wants it they should really take the kind of courses people in the military and Swat members go through to get qualified on them
Oddly enough, fully automatic arms are seldom if ever used during the commission of a crime.

[ . . There was not mass law enforcement back then. What do you want next, suitcase nukes? Militias were organized from the citizenry and all needed their own personal weapons. . ]

It's too bad that the government and the police in most localities owe no legal duty to protect individuals from criminal attack.

LOL!

I'm watching some specialist videos
I don't hate guns, but I believe only long guns should be available to farmers, hunters, and the like. I just don't believe handguns should be available to the general public.

Go ahead. Flame away. I'm fine with that.

Just when some nutter decides that half the population of his local school/town/hospital etc., need to die.

For me, it seems that the original need for the general populace to own guns no longer applies. People talk about overthrowing the government by force of arms, but that is hardly a realistic scenario in today's world. As for protection, it is likely to do more harm than good. An armed man is less likely to fire at an unarmed one. However, trying to remove the right to arms in the USA is now impossible - it is too deeply engrained. The only thing that could be done is to tighten the existing laws, limit the types of weapons available. Arms law also need to be made federal rather than up to each state to administer as they see fit.
At the end of the day, living in the UK, I am on the outside looking in. Here, ownership of arms by the general populace has been illegal for hundreds of years, and even these laws have been tightened recently. I am happy to live in a country where only law enforcement and criminals own guns. Especially as the criminals own guns that are just as likely to explode in their hand as fire a bullet. :2 cents:

I have some guns in the USA ranging from the 9mm para to the 50bmg at my uncle's home and in France, no firearms but
daggers and survival knives, I am enough trained to shoot during day and night at long distances.I know also hand to hand combat, so no worries for me in case someone wants to start trouble with me.

Well, in Belgium, owning guns are forbidden by the law, and honestly, I believe it's a good idea, every day a bit more. Call me a sissy whatever you want, but we don't have as much killings from shootings as the US.

Guns are banned in the UK.Which is just as well really, because if there were, then

You also don't have every race and nationality on the planet living within 5 feet of each other. Just adding that for perspective.

Why are you carrying a gun all the time? You a little paranoid? Don't tell me it's, because you're allowed to and it's your constitutional right! :nono:

Yes, I have several - handguns, long guns, shotguns. I also am licensed for concealed carry. I am of the opinion that if you choose to own a gun and choose to carry, it's your responsibility to be trained on the proper use and safety issues of the firearm, and also the legal requirements placed upon you for that permission.
