Yesterday, I decided to ride my bike to work, as it was a beautiful sunny day.
I am not allowed to take my bike into work with me, so I have to cahin it to the bike rack which is about 265 feet away from the building I work in. there is only one floor to the building, and big picture windows on two sides so, I can cleary see my bike. At most times during the day=, there is at least one other bike on the bike rack.

I work in an area with many other places of in the same complex. There are a number of businesses across the parking lot as well. There is always people out and about who are able to see the bike rack.

So, I get off work after 9.5 hours and walk out to unchain mt bike for the ride home, and it is gone. Somebody stole my bike in the broad daylight. It was chained up as I was finishing up my work. I decided to go to the bathroom at the end of my shift and change, and when I got out my bike was gone.

The person who stole it needed to have industrial strength bolt cutters because the lock I use is very strong, and cost me over $60.

What I want to know is how the hell was somebody able to steal my bike with so many people around. This perpetrator was very brave, because people at more than a few stores know that the bike belongs to me.

  I am so mad right now.

I would have had no chance to get it back, if I had witnessed it being taken. I could not run as fast as a bike, and what if the perpetrator produced a weapon.

I am so mad and angry right now.

Well, shit happens and then we die:rofl:

If I think about it, it could have been a lot worse. I have a roof over my head, food on the table, and a steady job, so I am very glad about that:D

So...

have any of you guys and gals ever had anything stolen?

I don't remember having anything stolen, except for 1666$ (no, it's not a joke), when I was gullible enough to give my credit card number to this fucker: http://www.mattsmusic.com/ , by email (why I did sth like that? because the guitar was not in the stock and I'm a fucko).
He took the money, received a thousand calls and emails from me and some months later he pretended he didn't know me. Lame, hah?

Also, there are always a bunch of fuckers trying to steal my bike. How they try to steal it? by pulling the lock until it eventually breaks; no it has never broken, but they keep on trying. I hope that no professional bike robber -like the one that you had the luck to steal ur bike- will ever come across mine.

:thefinger fuck :thefinger

But as u said, it could be worse, say, someone could be fucking me right this moment while I'm writing this reply.
Sth like this: :nannerf2:

Hey, I had my bike stolen too. Had it chained up just like you. It's really a stupid crime to steal someones bicycle. I mean, that's something elementary school kids do.

Anyways, I never bought another bike since. You just can't leave them outside anymore, even if they're chained up. Next time rollerblades might be a better investment :dunno:

Theopolis Q. Hossenffer

I am in America, not of it.
Our home was broken into while we were out in November of last year. 2 computers, Digital camerals, photo printers, 20 silver dollars, and a varity of smaller stuff taken. I too would like to meet the turd that took my stuff. It still pisses me off that the SOB was in our HOME and stealing our stuff. ARRGGHH!

can't remember much, i live in a third world country man, shit gets stolen by the minute and people (like me sometimes) do it for fun. we had our garage door left open once, just for a couple of minutes, and someone took my goddamn basketball. believe that shit man? they took the ball! just the ball! fuckers! lol

Sorry to hear that BBB, like you said though its just a bike. You still have the important things.

Be grateful you were out, had you been home the loss may have been considerable. Many people lose their lives.

I had personal things taken by apparently one of my friends/acquittance's during a cookout some years ago in my home. Jewelery, a expensive 35mm camera (the sob removed the undeveloped film and left in the drawer at least), old coins, cash and credit cards. Some of the guests had brought a few of their friends that we didn't know. They brought the extra digs (beer food etc) so I didn't care. Everyone was entitled to bring a "date" with them. I never in a million years thought anyone would do such a thing. :( Nobody ever fessed up to knowing "anything" of course.

Heres a few of mine:

- I had my bike stolen from my school when I was a kid. Bike thieves are rarely caught, so I feel your pain.

- Had my car stereo stolen a few times. Always a pain with them breaking a window, and usually destroying part of the console.

- Had my car stolen last year while I was in class. The police lady I talked to on my cell was nice enough to take my report over the phone and save me my evening. I was fully insured, so I got a brand new car as a result. Thanks car thief!

* The one that really made me mad, was when I got robbed at Airborne school. While we were completing our final night jump, probably several people, went onto our barracks floors, cut open all the wall lockers, and took all the stuff we brought with.

When we got back in the wee hours of the morning, all tired and relieved our training was finally over, the mp's wouldn't let us into our building, because of the massive crime scene they were investigating! They broke into over 200 lockers. These pricks knew what they were doing. They waited till our cycle hit jump week and struck while everyone in our company was gone.

Anyway, we graduated the next day, after we got to sleep outside for about an hour. And we had nothing to take home with us, except our new jump wings. I had to wear my uniform that I wore on the jump to the airport later that day. But at least I had enough money on me to buy a T-shirt, shorts, shoes, etc, before I boarded the plane home. Some of my buddies weren't as fortunate.

I had some fishing gear stolen from a shed, several years ago.
It wasn't too bad, the gear wasn't particularly expensive, but I got some decent replacement gear thanks to the insurance company.

I also had a car CD/Radio unit nicked from a car (about ten years ago) It was a Kenwood unit, with a removable facia..of course I forgot to remove the facia one night and it was gone the next.

Sorry to hear that bigbadbrody I can understand your anger.

I had some money laying down in the console of my car and pull it to store, to walk out and it was gone. So I feel your pain and anger as well.

I had my rental car broken in and all my luggage stolen in San Fran last summer UGH! Suprising what you have in a suit case for a week trip! $2200 worth of goods!

I had my motorbike stolen 15 months ago. I built a special place for it to go 6ft walls on three sides and 5ft solid steel gates double locked with spikes on the top. They smashed through the hinges on one side to get the bike out. They did this in the middle of a storm so no one heard them. Plus they went through four chains and locks that was anchored a foot into solid concrete.

The police found it after 5 months. It was a real mess as it had been crashed. But it by then belonged to the insurance company as they'd paid out to me. But I did have a heavy heart seeing it as I passed the recovery yard it was in on the way to work on the new motorbike. After all I'd put time and attention into that motorbike for the three years I'd had it.

I'd have beat the living hell out of them if I'd have caught them. So maybe a good job I didn't as I'd be typing this from my holiday home on wing D :1orglaugh

my wallet, taken out of my school bag from my locker once in high school.

only 30 bucks cash. worst part of it all was losing health card, birth certificate, license etc.

It's good to be the king...
Roughly £200 ($400) in a scam some decades ago. It was a real eye-opener when (and how) it happened.
One good thing resulted from that event - I'm very cynical about things these days....

That's the number one problem with riding a bike around instead of taking a car is the ease at which they are stolen. That's why even if it was practical for me to do so I would be hesitant to ride a bike. Around here there is just no way you could ever have it keep from being stolen. It would just be a matter of when not if it happened. That cable or chain you put around it will do nothing. Riding a motorcycle around is almost as bad. At least with a car they have to break into it somehow and the person has to be somewhat skilled, even it only takes him seconds to do it. With a motorcycle a couple of people could just literally lift it up and put it into the back of a pick up truck and drive off.

I am thankful (for the alleged thieves' sake) that I have never been robbed or had anything stolen. If I caught them in the act, I'm afraid that I'd ring their neck(s) with my bare hands. I don't take to thieves very well.

I don't think I will buy a new one. A few people have offered to let me use theres. As for the rollerblades, they would work, but only if I learned to stop

the only thing that was stolen from me was my Barry Bonds rookie card back in high school.

He plays basketball right?:1orglaugh
