I dont understand Phone Companies logic

Decided to upgrade my phone to a better/smarter one, so I went to the Verizon store. I'm liking the Droid 2, so I go in there seeing if I'm eligible for an upgrade, which the lady says "NO" because I'm about 4 months ahead of my upgrade and they cant waive it at all. To which they want me to pay $570 for just the phone!

Ive been a Verizon customer since 2003. Not only am I planning to buy a better phone, but I will be paying more a month than my current plan. Your telling me you cant give me the goddamn upgrade!? I don't get it :dunno:

Here's the logic:
They have a contract with us.
Let's fuck them over.
Cheap phones? Sure! For new customers.
Existing customers? Fuck them. They're dupes.

Sorry, man. Unless you're willing to make a lot of noise of the, "I'm leaving this shit, and you're not getting my cancellation fees because you're forcing me to do so," kind, you're stuck paying for the phone.

Pretty simple...'you' represent tens of thousands of subscribers...not just yourself. They don't see you per se...they see policy.

What would be the point of having a policy if they just broke it for 'you' (tens of thousands of subscribers)?

Now if you had a friend or family member who worked at a kiosk, store or reseller they could probably do it for just you instead of strangers doing it for 'you'.:2 cents:

you phone the phone company because your phone bill is to high, and then you end up being put on hold for a long time and it makes your bill even higher

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
Uh, why not just wait four months and get the free or 99 cent upgrade? :dunno:

I was leery of Verizon and had been with Alltel for years. But Verizon bought Alltel a couple of years ago. Some space cadet, summer working coed from Alltel royally fucked up my account just before Verizon took control. My next bill was over $500 (I called Alltel and complained) and the bill after that was over $700. I went ballistic! So I called the idiots again. Space cadet, summer working coed #2 even had the nerve to get smart with me when I called to lodge a complaint. I paid both bills and got prepared to sue them - and contacted AT&T to get a new account. By this time Verizon had taken over. I called them. Their customer service people were NOTHING but polite, patient and nice. Long story shot, it took them about 3 billing cycles, but they refunded all of the excess charges, gave me a discounted plan, applied a one time $100 "apology" to my account and as long as I agreed to stay with them, I'd receive a $20/month credit for life! They even had a customer service rep call me back that night to make sure I was still satisfied and happy with their offer. Other than a blowjob, a lap dance and a free whiskey sour, there wasn't much more I could have asked for.

I very seldom stick up for or say good things about large companies. But Verizon has treated me like gold. And it's not like I have a premium account - I have a fairly basic, non-smartphone account. But I have a really high credit score, I've never paid a cell bill late and I've had the same service for almost 9 years. Me, I'd wait the four months and get the smartphone that you want. If my girlfriend can wait four months (or whatever) for me to get her the iPad2 that she was expecting for Christmas, you'll survive. :)

Get an aussie mobile, they don't suck. Hahahaha. My exprience with North American mobiles isn't great to be honest. I guess it depends on what smart phone our swininging for. I think it maybe a matter of shopping around playing hard ball. The ohter thing is what type of plan your afdter with your phone. Shop around man, shop around.

Re: I dont understand Phone Companies logic

There's your problem. Thinking the phone companies have any semblance of logic.

Why save the world, when you can rule it?
Companies have little/poor logic.
Talking of logic, what kind of a name is "Honky Hindu"? I wasn't aware non-Indians could be Sikhs (white Sikhs aren't accepted by Punjabi Sikhs last I heard) so by extension I would've thought all Hindu's were... Injun.

***DISCLAIMER: Revamp is exempt from posting on this topic because we've all had more than enough of his BS in that area. Should Honky Hindu turn out to be Revamp under another name I will be requesting his immediate banning under violation of the terms and conditions. It is dubious wether this will ever happen however as nobody ever listens to me :bawling: ***

I have worked as a customer support agent at a large communication service company for some years. The problem is: These companies try to cut as much cost as they can out of the actual customer service.

And the major part is the cost of that humans that you have to employ. So they go for poorly trained guys, just trained so-so and mostly outsourced.

And as they have no actual tie to the company, mostly working for sub-companies or on a time contract, why should they care? Plus: If they decide to give you a better deal than absolutely necessary, they are risking their job each and every time.

Middle management deciders are bastards, and they ofteneven enjoy putting the boot down a bit harder to push their workers. Most of the guys that I had experiences with of that level seemed to have gotten there because they were sadistic, in my opinion. Because if not, you could not endure the shit you have to do in that job, day in day out

Phone companies don't use logic.

I got to kind of disagree. There's a reason they offer great deals for new customers... They want them to switch.

Exactly. More valuable than the cash they make is the bond between a company and a customer. In order to get e new customer, companies go out of their way to get them.

If you are already a customer, they tend to go easy on you, as well, they like to take the risk of losing you, because people tend to not change deals as they are afraid that the new deal might be worse and there could be some downtime because the switch don't work smoothly.

Here Zombie, Zombie, Zombie...
When I got my phone, replacing another phone I had to buy it outright and upgrade my plan. Now they give away the phone I have a year later. That's annoying. Problem is, all these companies pushing out phones every other week. Yes, I'm talking about HTC! A-Holes.

Telecommunication companies and cable companies rarely operate in a way that's fair or often even operate in a way that makes logical sense.

Sounds pretty logical to me. They have rules to their contracts. Why should you get special treatment? Did you not read the terms & conditions? :dunno:
