That shit about a .50 dropping a plane out of the sky is a load of BS fabricated by the Brady Bunch. It has absolutely no weight to it unless they are using data like "Well, the military shoots an M2 at planes and hits them so it's the same thing"...

Never underestimate the antigun crowd's ability to stretch the facts like silly puddy... and make it sillier than any comics you could lift from it.

Biggest I ever shot was a heavy load in a .45-70 I can't see the $1 a shot I hear they get for a .50. Maybe one time, but I don't even know the energy on that 50 yards out. Bang, boom, like the 4th of July, it's over, (hopefully), at midnight.

I heard about a guy from the gun dealer i go to and he said there was a guy at a shoot charging $10.00 a pop for his barrett .50. he's also got one in his shop i picked it up heavy as a horse 32 pounds plus a $8000.00 price tag.

While even I think a 50 cal rifle is a bit excessive I would never say that I people shouldn't own one. For the same reason I think cars that can drive in excess of 200mph are pointless but if someone wants one it's their right. Both are capable of being used to break laws... it's just a matter of how much of an asshole the owner is.

In california they have still banned barrett rifles for some stupid reason because they said the rifle could blow planes which is false. They also wanted to ban the m1a1/m21/m14 in cali because it was an evil looking gun but they didn't succeed because some people of the national guard and the swat defended the weapon for its great services to the country.

During the last election, they showed an animation of .50 bullet going through 2 police cars, then "do you want him as attorney general". Well guess what, Jerry Brown won, and that's why they're taking away rifles with black stocks.

On the side note, found a brand new mini-14 for a incredible deal, and bought it, (I know the accuracy sucks on those), but if they're going to be banned, I might as well get one, so it's grandfathered.

im not sure i follow? It was a shoot with good people, he was just making a little extra cash from the fact that he spent so much on his rifle, plus ammo is high. people like to try new things, I'd pay it. hell if someone wanted to pay me $15.00 I'd let em rattle off a full mag through my black rifle. which ever one they wanted.

I built another AR lower yesterday those things are to much fun. did a trigger job on one too.

I know some barrett m82a3 owners that I encountered 8 years ago in Dallas. They are either in the law enforcement, military or experimented shooters. Only experimented people can shoot the 500s&w, same goes with the barrett. For law enforcement, they are useful to kill dangerous scumbags, drug dealers who wear bulletproof vests. For the military, the barrett is useful to destroy light transportations vehicles or heavily armored troops. The most accurate ammo in cal 50 being produced by blackhills ammo.

The biggest loads I have shot were the 458 winchester magnum in a carbine, the 44 magnum, 454 casull, 475 wildey magnum and 50ae in revolvers and pistols.

That is absolutely true and fact is that it is a female democrat senator who made a big deal of the barrett being able to destroy planes that made the weapon banned in California. That woman had no experience in weapons and never fired a gun in her life. She was just freaked of the sight of a gun.

And EOD for surface disruption of ordnance and IEDs. Good stuff. The M82 is a lot of fun shooting. Can it drop a plane out of the sky? A frickin seagull flying into the engine could potentially do it so I guess anything's possible.

Define "damage"....

I lost 6 members of 2nd platoon when a regular 50 cal took out the tail rotor just as we about to deploy during Toan Thang...

..."damage" is subjective I guess.

Georges: I don't mean to be personal. I am not chastising you. Just presenting a different perspective.


But I agree with most folks here who said that "those who argue for banning 50 cal weapons because 'they can take down airliners' are talking out of their ass".

Last I checked explosive ammo isn't something you can get at Walmart.

p7 m8 nice id love to have one of those or a m13 ive shot the m8 but not an m13 trigger was great I still have to say though i am a glock man for life. I went with a buddy today and helped him pick out a new stag arms ar-15 with a nice rail system.
