Ended up with a .40S&W Full Size M&P Model, the revolvers were too expensive.

Small add to my collection:

Benelli Montefeltro 12 Ga. shotgun
Stevens 1962 Single Shot .22 Rifle

I sold my HK Pistol a few years ago, liked it more the new S&W.

I'll have to say, I'll be sticking with Ruger. Sure they may not be pretty, but they are tanks. They will take a beating and keep going. I recently got a Ruger SR9 (Green frame/Black slide) and that is the best poly pistol I've ever shot. Stuck a TLR-3 onto the rail and it groups under 2 inches on rapid fire drills. That is my go-to handgun.

Does it resemble this Kimber ''KPD''?

Sort of. They all sort of look the same now. The Ruger's bore axis is a bit lower in the hand, and the internal linkup is unique so it's really smooth shooting. And I'm thinking the Kimber is double the cost of the Ruger.

I was instantly sold on it when I borrowed a gun range's rental. And it was absolutely filthy. Not even a day's filth either, I don't think they'd cleaned it for over a month and it still performed perfectly. The newer SR9's trigger is more crisp than the first ones.

You would think that the ranges would at least have their staff wipe 'em rentals down with a lightly dampened cloth of Hoppes every now and then, huh? I know what you mean.

Also, I understand that Ruger upgraded the trigger on those pistols free of charge, true? ;)

Is that frame also offered in .40 S&W too?

*Sorry about above^ The pic was deleted.

Yeah, it's in .40 now too, the SR40. It has been beefed up in certain areas to handle the extra pressure. Rumors of a SR45 are floating, I think that would be awesome. And yes, they'll replace the trigger assembly for free, but by now, all the pistols on the market have the upgraded triggers.

The only downside to the SR line, is finding a holster that is also molded for the tac-light as well, but there is always a soft sided holster. Factory mags are a bit expensive, as there is no clones yet.

But I'm a Ruger guy, half my guns are Rugers.

My favorite Rugers are as follows...

GP 100 4'' in blue

Deerfield Carbine .44 (would have been even cooler in a 10 round config)

Mini .30 or 6.8

and their .22 LR pistol (not the Luger type, the other model) :hatsoff:

Just tried to marry an Olympic Arms 9mm upper to a S&W M&P lower but the rear takedown pins would not line up. Tried three different pins...best case required me to drift the fucking pin out.

After a lot of dirty looks and bad words, I experimented and tried my Bushmaster upper on the S&W lower (and vice versa) and both fit flawlessly. But somehow, I stripped the threads of my MagPul buffer tube when swapping stocks. Thankfully the lower threads are fine, but the buffer tube is shot. Now I have to order a new buffer tube before I can run the damn thing.

Shoulda just bought a Kel-Tec Sub2000.

Mini 14s and 30s are great, if accuracy isn't a concern.

I love to knock Ruger, but my 10/22 is a fucking champ and I picked up a 22/45 for a hundred used...the previous owner dissembled it and didn't know how to reassemble the mainspring housing...so I bought it as a "needs parts gun."

Five minutes of Google rendered me a flawless, accurate and fun 22. Highly recommended...even at MSRP. It has the grip angle of a 1911...so it's great for 1911 shooters/carriers who down't want to spend a fortune to keep up with the platform.

My fellow shooting friend is a wizard with my Mini-14. Hits the steel pigs at 300 yards with it, iron sights. Kinda freaks me out. But I will say, the new Tapco mags for the Mini are a god send. Solid lock up, no wiggle. Anti tilt follower and reliable as hell.

I'd love to get one of .44 carbines. I like the new bolt action version. I'm thinking of trading in my Tikka 30.06 for one of the carbines. I have a guy who's really good at threading the end of the barrels for brakes and hinders and I think it would be perfect that way. A lot cheaper and more comfortable shooting as well.

I'm going to be sending him my 22/45's to thread them up. I have a 5 1/2 inch barrel version and 4 inch barrel. But you are right LaLiLuLeLohan, pain in the ass to reassemble.

It's cool that you've seen positive results from the Mini 14. From what I read, Ruger is now embracing non-Fudd shooters as well trying to negate the bad taste that the Mini platform left in a lot of shooters' mouths. I like what I'm seeing from them.

Are you going with a Can for your 22/45? The integrally suppressed uppers are a thing to behold. Relatively spendy, but cool as all get out. If you're going the NFA route, forget the threading, get the full upper. That's what I'd do.

Once I move to another state that isn't as oppressive as California. I'd absolutely loved to have to have one for the .22. I was just going to put on a long hinder with strike muzzle on them. I was just thinking it would look very cool and stand out from the norms and tourists at the range.

Marlin Camp Carbine .45ACP anyone?

...This was my little gully rifle (my dad's rifle actually) back when I was a half pint of a kid . . . I think that my brother traded it away for . . . god knows what . . black lighting for his bedroom . . or maybe accessories for his dirt bike maybe(?) :dunno:
I think that it's time to look for another one. :)

Aside: What accessories do you guys & gals like on your rifles/smoothbores?
Is the marketplace getting a little ridiculous, I mean, are you the type that has to have a rail up top, below, port and starboard? :1orglaugh It's unbelievable just how many accessories you can lever lock onto your long gun these days . . . accessories that just end up detached from the rail only to be collecting dust somewhere or maybe buried in your safe never to be seen again until you review your inventories. . .
''Oh, that's where those 3 sets of Swan throw rings went.'' :hammer:

Saiga 12 Shotgun RJ T12 - mine is pink :)

Vid or action pic, please. :D

What does a cheap box of 12ga #8's cost these days?

Those were so nice. Too bad they stopped making them. I'd really like a new production of a 1911 clip fed rifle carbine. That way I can use my clips from my 1911, back and forth. A lot of gun makers are obscenely stupid. Good example is the (Yeah I know Ruger again?) The Ruger PC9, 9mm. The clips went from that to the P95. And you can get 33 round mags that go into both.

Is #8 birdshot? I forget. Or is that #12?

Oh, it's just the old standard blue box Fiocchi fodder they sell at the desk of a local skeet/trap club. ;)

Yea that interchangeability of mags works out very nicely doesn't it? :hatsoff:
I shot the .4o S&W Ruger Rifle at a local indoor range a few years ago and I was impressed!

33 Rounds? You mean that there hasn't yet been a ban on those mags since Arizona?

I think Walmart sells a big box of a hundred for around $20 bucks. (4 boxes of 25 inside)

No ban. No rumbles of it either. Arizona isn't the only state that allows them and it would be a hard legal fight to stop that kind of thing. More likely they'll place ammo restrictions out there like California tried to do and was stopped because it wasn't Constitutional. A 3%er shooter doesn't need 33 rounds. But I'm not going to complain about having them either.
