Formula 1 2012

That was an incredibly stupid move on Grosjean's part. And I think he does deserve a one race ban. But in sum, I think Maldonado has a lot more eggs in the basket than Grosjean does. Maldonado should be serving his 3rd or 4th one race ban by now.

Hell of a drive by Button and (finally!) some good strategy and pit work by McLaren. Good race! I enjoyed this one. But not enjoying Spa would be like not enjoying chocolate cake on your birthday!

I couldn't believe the move from Grosjean. It actually looked like he jinked towards Hamilton as he was going by.
As for the excuse that he thought he had passed Hamilton

Thank the gods that no one was seriously hurt.

About summed it up. I wonder how bruised up Vergne is. That was piss poor luck but could have ended so much worse.

Oh, and just found this...

Believe they're up to 5 episodes now. I really don't want to see Lewis and Jensen broken up next year, but alas...we'll see I guess.

Kubica wins on rally return

Robert Kubica won the Ronde Gomitolo di Lana Rally at the weekend in his first competitive race since his life-threatening accident last year.

Kubica was participating in the rally driving a Subaru Impreza WRC car, with his participation uncertain until Thursday as the car was readied. Despite telling Italian television before the event that he was not focusing on stage times, Kubica went on to win every stage and with it the rally by just under one minute from Omar Bergo in a WRC Mini.

The extent of Kubica's injuries were revealed further on the podium after the rally, with the use of his right arm severely limited during the celebrations. Kubica also wore a bandage over the lower part of his right arm in order to hide the worst of his scars from the accident in February 2011.

Japan - Soft, Hard
Suzuka contains a combination of high-speed as well as slower and more technical corners, meaning the tyres have to work effectively within a wide range of parameters and potential weather conditions. By partnering the hard and soft compounds, every eventuality is catered for on a favourite circuit for all the drivers, on account of the high g forces experienced through flat-out corners such as 130R and Spoon.

Korea - Supersoft, Soft
Although temperatures in Korea can be high, the tight and twisty nature of the track, as well as the exceptionally low tyre degradation it presents, make it a good choice for the two softest tyres in Pirelli’s range. These provide plenty of mechanical grip, but do not compromise on durability, as shown by the other races in which this combination has been used, such as Monaco and Canada.

India - Soft, Hard
With India being new to the calendar last year, Pirelli’s engineers faced the challenge of accumulating as much simulated data as they could about the Buddh International Circuit. This year, the tyre nomination has been made with real data, and as a result the hard and the soft compounds have been selected to provide the best spectacle on one of the longest straights in Formula One racing, as well as some complex multi-apex corners that put plenty of energy through the tyres.

There are maybe three doctors who have become world famous by being connected with the world of racing: Dr. Terry Trammell and Dr. Steve Olvey in the old CART series, here in the U.S., and of course, Dr. Sid Watkins in Formula One.

R.I.P., Dr. Watkins. And thanks for all of the lives you saved. :hatsoff:
