Feds Shutdown Top File-Sharing Site, Megaupload Today

How is it fascism when you're taking down someone for breaking the law?

Because everyone has the right to...break the law?

Is Megaupload the only file-sharing site out there? You bet it ain't...

They may have won this battle but they sure as hell won't win the war.

I fought the law and the law LOST...

Yes they do, but it doesn't mean they aren't gonna get punished for doing it though.

So you're obviously in support of people sharing stolen content then huh?

Punished? Enough with the moral politically correct BS...just because someone breaks the law doesn't mean what they have done was "wrong".

You have Jaywalking in the U.S. right? It's against the law...but if someone does jaywalk should they really get "punished" for it? I jaywalk all the time in the U.K. but then again there is no such law...

Does every driver that is caught speeding get a ticket...no. Some do others just get a warning...but BOTH are breaking the law.

The U.S. has different ages of consent depending on the state, right? So if I sleep with my 16 year-old GF (just an example, I don't have a 16 year-old GF...hehehe) in California I'm breaking the law right? But if I do the same thing, but in say Michigan it suddenly becomes legal.

Is it legal to fuck 16 year-old teens or what?...... You see, laws in general are stupid.

So you're obviously in support of people sharing stolen content then huh?

But what if one person buys the content and then decides to share with others? Once someone has bought something it is THEIRS right....nothing "stolen" about what is MINE is there?

I can do whatever I want with what is MINE can't I?

It is BETTER (not right) to abide by the law....but I'm not concerned about those who decide to break it...especially if it's just sharing files over the web. There are FAR worser illegal things going on IMO, the FBI needs to go check those things out. :2 cents:

:

You know,I think that this is something that's really just ignored by the supporters of anti piracy.

What would happen if say 100 people bought a movie, and each of those people loaned it out(physically) to their friends who copied it?Is the movie industry losing money because of the people that were loaned the copy instead of buying it? Probably not because chances are that they wouldn't have bought it anyway.

The only reason why people are pissed about file sharing is because of how fast it is and because is can reach people over the entire globe.

Back in the day,one person would buy a cassette of whoever, and the person would listen to it and pass it around to get dubbed(copied),and no one gave a shit about that. The problem is that technology is the sort of Pandora's Box that got opened and there's no way to get it back in,and now people are pissed.

These companies need to adjust to the times and realize that they can't stop the progress of technology.

And this shit about it breaking the law is bullshit.Copying and redistributing is wrong, but you can't prevent people from sharing something that they spent money on and aren't making a profit off of.

yet you wrote and I quote:

directly after quoting the image, explain to me what you were referring to with that quote because I have mistakenly applied it to something I thought to be very questionable at best.

I just find it odd that you directed your smart ass response to me instead of the person who posted it

Its akin to punchin a guy in the mouth for laughin at you instead of punchin the guy who is makin him laugh cuz he's crackin jokes about yo momma.:dunno:

Atleast thats the way Zolf sees it:2 cents:

I don't see it as breaking the law.

Have you ever done anything against the law?

Have you read a book without paying for it, borrowed a CD/DVD without paying for it?

Well your post was the last one I saw that had the picture posted in it. I only looked at this page and I apologize for that. If the guy who is laughing at you long after the other guy has told the joke do you not turn your aggression towards the latter?

Nope. Never.

And if you believe that!. Then you probably also believe that Ringo was a really good drummer.

You do know that when you purchase a movie, or a book, or the like, that you're purchasing the rights to that copy? You're not buying the rights to the film. You don't own all future distribution and copyright rights of the film. You bought one copy, for personal use. Selling, distributing, or similar is not included in the cost. You're buying one copy. You can't upload it for everyone else to share in your individual copy.

How is that not clear?

So what your saying is if you feel a law is stupid then you're gonna ignore it right? Ok thats fine BUT you cannot moan & groan if you are punished for breaking that law. You know it exists but choose to ignore it, this does not mean it's suddenly whiped out of existence. This is the point I was making about Megaupload, they knew about the laws, they choose to ignore them & they got punished for it. It's as simple as that.

Exactly. Thank you Dirk.

What you said 24 Grams along with a few others in this thread, just shows that you have no regard for any of the models on here & in the industry, including me. It's not just multi million $ corporations that are hurt by this crap it's all of us as well.
And you say that you aren't worried about people breaking the law...well I'm pretty sure you'd be worried if someone stole off of you wouldn't you?!

BrianaLeeOnline - I thank you for keeping this going, been offline a few days since my car accident (on way to a show, sux). So many of these guys do not see the error of the way they think. Megaupload and all file transfer sites should be shut down if they can not be responsible enough to stop the distribution of stolen / pirated content.

Thank you, I think many of these People do not understand just because the buy something they don't OWN it, they have purchased the rights to view the video, not to share nor distribute it! Same with software, etc. unless its specifically states OPEN SOURCE, and then the code to said program is made public.

The MPAA nor any artist is going to care if you invite your friends over to view the video (unless you charge to do so, then that is illegal). But you DON NOT have the rights to digitize it and send it across the internet!

I still say there are enough laws already in place to deal with this, but I think INTERPOL and FBI should shut down more, and from what is being said they are going to be shutting down dozens more of these sights AWESOME! I only hope they also go after the moron that uploaded the content and all those that download the stolen products as well.

You do realize that 4 years was just the decided sentencing and that 5 years in prison for uploading MJ's music is in most situations the absolute worst case scenario? I don't support SOPA or PIPA but these comparisons are pretty much rubbish

I was the jackass that originally posted the image. Apparently the comparison wasn't rubbish if you felt so strongly about it. :hatsoff:

So its against the law to buy a book and then lend it to my dad after I'm finished reading it? I cant buy a CD or DVD and then give that to my sister?

It's a slippery slope.

Buy a DVD, loan it to your sister. Yeah, that's one thing. Buy a DVD, upload it to a sharing site where hundreds or thousands of people will view, download, and then have it for free...that's something else.

You are allowed, under copyright laws, to buy a CD/DVD etc., and show/share it in your home to reasonably sized audiences. However, I have a venue where I could show movies for around 200 people at a time. If I buy a DVD, should I be allowed to show it there and charge admission? Heck, no.

Be reasonable about this, and there is no issue. No one is going to come after you if you buy a CD and give it to your family to listen to. Expect people to come after you if you upload it to a sharing site.

Does that make sense?

Sooooo if I were to buy a candy bar or a bag of chips, I can't share the contents because Hersey or Frito Lay is missing out on some money??? Somewhere along the line your item was paid for and by god if I want to share it, I CAN AND I WILL!! find another fucking job if you don't want your shit shared. The sex business and music business bubble done POPPED!!! This isn't the golden age anymore.

Nice point!! Comparing file sharing with sharing a bag of chips. Do you take your helmet off before you log on? Or are you just stupid?

This argument holds true if you continually barf out your candy bar, and keep sharing it over, and over, and over, so that the quantity of barfed candy bar actually increases, so that more people than the candy bar was originally intended for are able to enjoy said candy bar.

Obviously has a Harvard MBA.

Purchase that candy bar and share it with as many people as you want.
Neither them nor you will get to consume the FULL product.
Hershey misses out on zero money.
If your buddy wants a WHOLE candy bar, he has PAY for it.

Let's say file sharing worked the same way.
Say every time a video gets downloaded, one second gets clipped off the end.
Just over 5,000 shares and you'd have no more video!

Dr. B is just a broke ass mawfucka who can't accept that he's never going to enjoy the music, movies and porn he's been used to. Get your mom to buy you a wallet, put your birthday money in it, and go see a movie. Or put that money on one of those reloadedable Visas they give to kids these days and use that to buy some porn.
