Does anyone else on here think that $29.99 a month for a membership is just a little bit too much?

Yes and No. It depends on the quality of content that comes with the membership, download limitations, and the number of promised updates. I've seen a lot of big name sites that have a download limit of several GB per month and that's just not much in today's world of 1-5GB HD videos.
Prolly. I just like having DVDs. I'm pretty picky about my porn, but what I like, I buy it every time.
So at the end of the day I guess it almost all comes down to the content. If it is huge, with variety, quality and often updated, why not if that's really your thing (I know I'm not porn addict enough to consider it worthy).
But some website have little content and not too much quality, then it's definitely way too expensive.
I know the only experience I had was even more than not worthy, it was a rip-off. Making people pay by promising things and then only you realize the promises weren't true. So yeah I loved the model, but video quality was low, not much variety, very little content and updates, and above that, all was fake (for example, pretending to fuck but if you look closely, you see the flaccid dick not penetrating anything...)

I didn't even know there were download limits on sites. That's pretty scummy imo, especially if they don't tell you upfront about it, yet another reason why I'd never pay for these sites.

I think i´ve only paid the full 29.99$ price on one site, and there i downloaded all their videos in one month and then cancelled the membership. On all the other sites i´ve been a a member of i´ve used discounts from Freeones or review sites and paid 5-15$. Sometimes i re-join a site 4-5 months after i last was a member, and since i have a pretty fast internet connection it only takes a few hours to download all the new videos.
Ive only seen download limits on the smaller softcore sites like brianleeonline . Ive never seen them on any of the big xxx sites.

Realitykings have a daily download limit, i´m not sure exactly what the limit is but i reached it after about three hours of downloading. New Sensations had a one when i was a member about six months ago (i think it was something completely ridiculous like 6GB/day).
Honestly, it comes down to what you like.

At the end of my day, I work hard and enjoy spending money on the things that I like. One of those things happens to be porn and I'll buy it and be happy about it.

Hopefully you keep those things separate. 8-bit porn would just be creepy (although maybe that would fit you), and having food around while viewing porn might not be the best of ideas.
AFAIK, all the biggins have download limits - you have to dig to find out how much/how often - because they have so many subscribers and a ton of content. Smaller sites don't have to worry about it, so you typically won't see limits there.

You could use one of the many discounts being active to various pages all the time. Prices are also different depending on duration of actual subscription, rather than adding the highest monthly price for multiple months... I don't think price is all that bad when you compare to amount of content and what not... Thought I would not pay anything to subscribe to some random girls page just because she has one, no matter how much content. Porn is just in a bit doomed state and there are no real short term solutions to get people pay over tube pages.

Pretty sure the people making the adult stuff you whack off to have bills too. If the consumer base isn't paying them do you think most of them will still be making that stuff for you to slap the ol' bishop around to? Probably not.
Consider for a moment the number of sites out there, and the prevalence of free porn. Think how many people will get by on the free stuff (or steal what they want) and never pay for anything. Think of the amount of competition all those sites provide for everyone's hard earned money and how many times over that divides the pie they all have to share from.
So you're looking at them having expenses too, and the reality that there really isn't a tonne of money in porn unless you're one of the very, very, very tiny select group of people who are at the very top, the 0.00001% as it were, because of how much stuff is out there all vying for the same wallets.
When you stop and think about it... it's not exactly a surprise that they need to make the sales they make count. If they try to undercut... how much could they do that before they hit the red and have to start thinking about other lines of work?
Porn generally isn't the license to print money a lot of people seem to think it is.
So I guess what I'm saying is that unless you want the entire industry to consist of, like, Brazzers, three girls and whatever the random exhibitionists want to post for shits and giggles... maybe it really isn't that much, and maybe you want to pay it.

Sometimes, I'll get a discount price through an e-mail. That usually determines if I subscribe. For example, Freeones had an offer from Brazzers for about $5/month I think. How can you pass up that? I cancelled before the deadline of course, but it had tons of good videos. So, totally worth it.
The independent models, like our lovely OCSMs, deserve some support though. They do have bills to pay. So I don't mind signing up once in a while.
Look at it this way - if you go to a strip club, how much do you spend on lapdances and drinks? $30 isn't that bad, if you have a decent job you can afford it.

A person has got to be a fool if they spend money at a strip club, but then again I feel like a person is a fool if they spend money on camgirls or prostitutes.
