Convicted criminal President Donald Trump's Legacy

Theopolis Q. Hossenffer

I am in America, not of it.
And splitting the Republicans and Trumpistas will certainly make it harder for them to win anything as the vote they have will become split between each fraction. Kind of like parliamentary systems. And I don't see the Trumpistas joining with anyone else. to make a majority.

republicans got their power by tapping into the energy of a lot of full blown psychos, whose principles are born of pure delusion, but are principles nonetheless, and promising that they were the ones to help said psychos achieve their goals, whatever they might be.

Now it's becoming apparent that the only goals republicans ever cared about was self-interest, their courage non-existent, and their principles are as consistent as a morning shit after a night of rum and coke and taco bell. This is great for watching republicans and their base cannibalize each other, but unfortunately that psycho base are now feeling betrayed, voiceless, and frustrated, and are ripe for radicalization by white supremacists and conspiracy theorists.

Like I keep saying, I think America is going to be fighting these people for decades.

True. That's a garbage propaganda post by Fox News and all the right wing wing nuts (aka conservatives.) Surprised that anyone would believe any of this. They should all be tried for sedition and not be allowed to be seated in Congress during the next session. These individuals: Hawley, Graham, Cruz, Johnson, et al. Force them to resign their posts. Make the governor of each of their states choose successors.
Dear friend, that is a sarcastic video, as you can notice because it's put together by the Daily Show :suspicious:

Exactly. Think 1912 and TR's Bull Moose Party.

Thanks Supa for explaining. I kind of thought the opposite was present there.

It makes for a excellent reference point for perseverance of the Union, our American democracy, Constitutional values and the upholding of the most secure election in our nation's history. Kudos to the Daily Show producers. Make no mistake of it, The Lincoln Project should get permission to continue to use snippets of it in ads to be used against ex-President Donald J. Trump (should he not be convicted in the impeachment trial), these traitorous, seditious and insurrectionist Congressional members (Hawley, Graham, Cruz, Johnson, Jordan. et al. ) in both the 2022, 2024 and 2028 elections and for any of the followers of the Trump family members (Eric, Donald Jr. and Ivanka Trump) and mindless media members (Tucker Carlson, Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo, etc.) and its oligarchy (Rudy Giuliani, Lin Wood, Leo Terrell, Sydney Powell, Jenna Ellis, Joe DiGenova, Victoria Toensing, et al.) Maybe sanctions for Giuliani, Wood, Terrell, Powell, Ellis, DiGenova and Toensing by the various state bar associations for which they were admitted. For all the false rhetoric they've spewed out to the public since the November 3, 2020 Presidential election.

Couple of worthwhile looks back at this disastrous president.

For anyone not familiar with Beau's work, when his curious george patch is on upside down, he's doing sarcasm.

Get ready for Senate Impeachment Hearing 2.0: https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/535380-trump-impeachment-article-being-sent-to-senate-monday

This seems like a trap for the Republicans and I was expecting them to reach some type of Grand Bargain to avoid this moment. By most accounts Trump - at this point - is either planning (i) a 2024 run as a Republican or (ii) to start his own "Patriot" Party.
  • Convict: If you're a Republican senator who wants to run in 2024, convicting and disqualifying Trump would open up the field and increase fundraising potential. You would be pissing off Trump and his faction though.
  • Acquit: If the senators acquit, then Trump can form his own party to run in 2024 - essentially guaranteeing a Democratic victory. If he runs as a Republican, the senators would be hard-pressed to raise cash and would be in Trump's shadow. It would 2016 all over again.
I believe the Senate Republicans want him gone without having to do it themselves.

.

America can start working on unity after ALL seditious traitors have been rounded up and imprisoned or executed. Including leaders.

Man, get a load of this horse fucking shit. This is sky news (Australia's oann) pushing this "appalling conditions for the NG troops" bullshit and claiming - I can't fucking believe this is from my country and I apologize - that Pelosi just "used" the NG to "make it look like the Capitol was under siege."

Oi stupid cunts, remember when a bunch of armed seditionists took the Capitol by force on January 6th, and then said they'd be back to do it again on the 20th? We all know why the National Guard were there. There's literally NOBODY who isn't 100% SURE why the NG was there. This bullshit is ridiculous.

Three Republican Senators are retiring in 2022 [Portman (OH), Burr (NC), and Toomey (PA)]:

A former Portman aide captures it nicely:
  • “I think it’s a sign that the party is focused on those with the biggest mouths, not those with the best plans,”
  • “[T]here are too many within the party who judge everything through the prism of, ‘How does this impact Trump?’ and not ‘How does this impact the American economy and American families?’ ”

Exactly, and I think the masses are FINALLY starting to catch on. Elected officials who don't do their jobs are having their feet held to the fire like never before, and that doesn't just apply to republicans, no matter what those whiny snowflakes claim. A democracy doesn't work if those elected are not accountable to the people, and slightly more than half of Americans seem really motivated to make US democracy work again.

Trump's legacy will be the contortions many Republicans have to make in order to suck up to his base.

Nikki Haley: “I don’t even think there’s a basis for impeachment. At some point, I mean, give the man a break. I mean, move on.”
Trump is very notorious for giving breaks to people. Looks like Nikki wants to forget about 1/6.

CPAC potentially has an issue this year. Do they invite Pence? That would be awkward, but typical. "Sorry for all the bad stuff we said about you. It was all in good fun. Come speak."

They are going to focus on the issues facing 'conservatism'. Likely topics:
  • Rule of law - after creating a Big Lie about the elections, they are probably going to counsel their members on how to respect law and order.
  • Protecting the legislative filibuster - Okay.
  • Current structure of the Supreme Court - Not sure why this has to be a subject. There is a structure already. Do they need a primer? They talk so much about Nancy wanting to forget about the last four years, they forgot the three justices which were appointed over that time. Including one whose seat should have been decided prior to 2016 election.
  • Defending the Electoral College - The results of which they attempted to overturn. Again, they are probably going to counsel their members to respect the results of it. "No more rioting - we promise. Let's unite!"

Not real sure where to put "general republican insanity" so I figure this thread's good enough. Just a couple of memes that have amused or enraged me recently. I'm still a bit exhausted from all this *gestures vaguely around* to have real conversations yet. Plus still way too much going on....
