China as the next superpower

darn, more research needed I guess...

I didn't say they weren't a world power now. I said that they don't have a First World living standard.
You said First World 'status', not 'living standard'. Big difference. This thread is about superpower status, not standard of living. Or does one not have to follow the thread's topic here at Freeones?

Dont fuck with China. Thats what I say. They will take away you childrans toys, your cloths and all the other stuff you use in your everyday life, piis them off and they'll cut you off. And there also buying up every available oil field on earth.

You forgot to mention massage parlors. What would we do without massage parlors?

This thread is about superpower status

and so that depends on how one defines a superpower, now doesn't it?

Furthermore, the thread starter stipulated his prediction of it becoming THE superpower.

So even if it did rank number one in GDP, it would still rank lower than the current world superpower in all the other criterias that I factored in. thus I think that it's not only accurate but entirely neccesary to use those as THE factors in determining A (let alone THE) superpower.

Personally, some people think that superpowers come from the planet krypton, but we know that they are actually from earth's yellow sun.

Understood. Well spoken.

I will withdrawl from this thread, I have posted too much in it.

You, seeing their huge economic growth and their magnificent culture and history, I predict, as many others do, that China will become no.1 in the world in less then 20 years.

It's obvious that the United States is a declining state, due to the lack of population and decreasing economy.

Unless china screws up in something, they'll become the power.

Agree or disagree?

honestly, I'd rather have them be strong than here

then what?

I wonder why some people are putting so much emphasis on China needing to get every single person in it's country to a good living standard before they will be THE superpower. Thinking like that doesn't coincide with reality, and it's kind of ridiculous. They’re a repressive regime where the people in power won't give a rat's ass if half their people, or even a lot more, still live in abject poverty. That won't matter in how much influence they have. I would say the ruling elites main goals are #1 getting more power for themselves and #2 increasing China's worldwide influence not the well being of their people. In fact having such a big portion in poverty might give them even more power. It will be like a gigantic resource to them. It's only a hindrance when people think of them as precious human lives, which many of us on the board do, but they probably won't. They will always have that huge reserve of people that are in that condition that they can either use as very cheap labor or so they can could just send then off to war and still have so many people they don't have to worry about a huge amount of losses...and still they will have a huge advantage in the number of people they can bring to bear against somebody. In fact if they have that bad of a population problem having people die in some war might be beneficial to them. They don't really have to worry about any uprisings. Most of their people are used to brainwashing ranging from subtle to complete, and even if they tried what are they going to do, throw a bunch of rocks at a tank or a line of soldiers with automatic weapons. This isn't America were people can arm themselves were talking about, and it's already too late for anybody else to supple weapons without any serious repercussions.

In fact the limited amount of resources in the world will make it even worse. That means someday sooner or later somebody is going to start taking most of it, probably by force, either economically or militarily so at least they have it. China will have both in abundance. That's not to mention that that so many people have become stupid enough to rely on China economically that China has a lot of other places by the balls, especially the US. At one time they relied on us more than we relied on them, not anymore, and that's today already not someday in the future when it will be even worse.

If China gets even stronger people better pray they don't develop a very strong navy or at least a way to counteract cruse missiles from hitting transport ships loaded with people they are carrying.

Honestly, with their sheer numbers, nuclear capability, economic ability, well, I wonder if they are not considered #1 by some right now.

They are definitely a surging power, but does anyone acutally understand what is goind on with Tibet? I don't understand the history with the situation there at all, i just know that alot of people are protesting about how china is treating them.

That means that they can be brianwashed again. So long as the Chinese military is well fed, there wont be any consequential uprisings.

The only other way would be to get outside entities helping the "rebellers" like the U.S. did in Vietnam. And theres also the possibility of a coup.

Don't you see that "standard of living", while often defined in humanitarian terms (such as access to education and health care), really doesn't have anything to do with egalitarianism (from the perspective of those in power). people having access to things means people BUYING things. That's how money is made. Right now it's us that are buying all the things, but if china supersedes us as the world economic leader, then their goal is going to be to maximize production and distribution domestically. It's all about market.

The Individual GDP is improving drastically in China.
Ten years ago they looked very poor, now they have fashion sense.
