Thinking back to it now, No Country for Old Men had a pretty good ending.

When I first watched it I thought "What the fuck? No way, that can't be the ending" and was a bit disapointed. But it was actually perfect. The whole movie slowly drifted along in this dream-like state, so the ending worked exactly like it should. Like suddenly waking up.

I agree with SBTNW, The Usual Suspects and Shawshank Redemption had great endings.

I also liked the endings of Wild Things, The Natural (alltime favorite movie & ending), The Notebook (yeah I'm a sap), Empire Records, Clay Pigeons and Clerks (though I didn't really like the ending until I saw what could have been the alternate ending! :eek

that's a SURPRISING finale, but IMO not that GOOD.
it's kinda unbelievable, you know...

i just saw that movie (just because of your thread!) and i didn't find its ending THAT mind-blowing, you know. it's more like "poor unlucky bastard"...

but it's a great movie, tough. builds a nice tension.
