Best cover song

Ok, screw it. Why not? Here's a few more
First, a few more Sabbath covers.

Corrosion of Conformity (one of the most overlooked Metal bands of all time) covering "Lord of This World" by Black Sabbath. They included some of "Sleeping Village" at the end. Genius.

Pantera's cover of "Planet Caravan" by Black Sabbath

Faith No More (a very versatile band). First, a Black Sabbath cover

and FNM doing a Commodores cover

Voivod covers of one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs

Bruce Dickinson (best known as Iron Maiden's vocalist) covered this song by The Scorpions.

Stevie Ray Vaughan did an instrumental version of "Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix.

Jimi Hendrix cover of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower"

Type O Negative doing an obscure cover of a Seals and Crofts song, "Summer Breeze". ToN do the best cover songs because they're so different and unique.

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
Just heard another one on Sirius, I didn't re-read the whole thread, so it may have been mentioned.

Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me, by Jackson Browne, and Bonnie Raite, off of the Warren Zevon tribute album, Enjoy Every Sandwich.

What a GREAT version of the song. I actually like it better then Warren's version.

Judas Priest - Diamonds & Rust (Joan Baez)
Judas Priest - Green Manalishi (Fleetwood Mac)
Marilyn Manson - Personal Jesus (Depeche Mode)
Marilyn Manson - Tainted Love (Gloria Jones)
Iron Maiden Doctor Doctor (UFO)

Iron Maiden Doctor Doctor (UFO)

All great ones...although I like these 2 Manson covers better.

Down in the Park (Gary Numan cover)

Working Class Hero (John Lennon cover)
This version sounds very raw, like Lennon's original does. Green Day and also Ozzy Osbourne both did covers of this song as well, but theirs are more studio polished, which loses the feel of the song.

Iron Maiden covering 'Cross Eyed Mary' (Jethro Tull cover)

I know I have added quite a few already, but I had to add this one.
Bruce Dickinson: All the Young Dudes (David Bowie song, written for Mott the Hoople)

I hate these guys but they did an OK job on this
Creed - Riders on the Storm

Gun - Word up. Much better than Korn's version

most covers suck !!!!!!!!!!!! it all depends if the artist or person covering it has more balls too make it sound way better or somewhat better then original song.

Damn, you sound pissed off there. However, I agree. I wonder if it's about balls or if it's about creativity. Maybe both. Most covers suck, or are weak, like a novelty. You hear it once or twice and that's enough. Others are great and can be heard again and again. And a few are just so awesome that you want to say it's better than the original.
