Plot was ok, but felt rushed; real-life acting was ok, but not brilliant and CG was very well done, even though almost all of it was over the top. It was an "okay film"; I would say mindless...i.e. you don't have to think about it too much and it's got lots of pretty colours and fighting :)

Having said that, I wouldn't have paid the extra to see it in 3D had I known before hand that it was only going to be an "ok film".

As an aside, did anyone else find the alien girl, Neytiri, attractive? Mind you, I have a thing for Princess Fiona in Shrek and the Kelvin Doctor in Star Trek, so you can immediately tell my mental state :D

I finally saw it and I loved it. It was in 3-D which was my first of that new fad that I've been to and they have really improved the 3D tech. The movie wasn't very original though but the stuff they borrowed they executed very well. The parts I'm referring to are Dances with Wolves (or any "white man invading indian territory" movie), Lord of the Rings (when he's going around uniting all the tribes to fight the enemy) and Matrix (I do realize that this movie was actually conceptualized way before the matrix but I couldn't help myself). I liked the movie a lot and will probably get it when it comes out on DVD. Now the question is, will I like it when it doesn't have the 3-D effects. Also, did anyone notice how a lot of the creatures in the movie looked very similar to creatures found in the Final Fantasy games?

I feel the 3-D thing is completely unnecessary but I can definitely see it not feeling the same if it's not there, at least for this movie

ii just waited in line for 40 minutes to buy tickets for the 9:30 show
got the last 3, whew.
damn movie cost 15 thousand pesos each, thats 8 dollars.
usually its about 4.50 per ticket.
was it more $$$ in the states also?

for what its worth, cinemas in colombia are first rate, big comfy seats, and the rows are spaced far apart, never a head in your way.
but man 45 mil for 3 tickets, hope its worth it, i could get a young sexy hooker for that price! (not that i do that sort of stuff......too often).

Haven't seen it yet. Really don't want to feed the beast that is James Cameron's ego. And as everyone has said before we've all seen the story played out before but this time it's with 10 foot blue aliens. A movies special effects alone doesn't make the movie good, it also has to have a good story. Example Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.

didnt like it.
same old recycled story and same old hollywood ending filled with explosions.
couldnt wait for it to end after about 40 minutes.
plus the moaning hinduish type music was annoying.

The romance 'Dear John' has usurped the highest grossing opening week tickets sold place 'Avatar' held. Seems the ladies have great pull in market sales.

Fucking amazing, one of the greatest movie ever !!!

Visuals - A+
Everything else - C

The visuals is what made the movie. Basically it's "Dances With Wolves" set in the future in another planet, with more kickass weaponry and prettier pictures.

I saw the trailer for it but didn't like the look of the film and have no plans to see it.

I may watch it on TV when it comes on the Sky channels.

The movie was ok and it was fun to watch a 3D movie, but in the future when they have made more of the 3D movies I don`t think it will distinguish itself.
