I do have to agree, I would never want to be a woman because of these expectations. I see my wife go through it, to the point I have to make a joke just to make her feel at ease. If a woman can look her best without make-up, she's the ultimate in my book. I've always loved my wife without make-up and f' what everyone else thinks. On the bald v. hair, I still think it still all boils down to fear in an intimate situation. People talk about "morals" and people talk about "respect" and people talk about "requirements" like they are absolute. How many people, how many men, have excused their actions by claiming "morals," "respect" and "requirements"?

It's very true that some porn really does live up to the radical feminist mantra that porn is the "propaganda of womanhatred" (It was Kathleen Barry from CATW who said that BTW).

But thank goodness not all porn is misogynistic (of course this is where I differ from the radfems! They argue that all porn is inherently misogynistic). Now we just have to work on destigmatising the sex industry. It's interesting that in academia there is a new wave of literature arguing that pornography has now been normalised, that our culture is 'pornified', that sex work is chic etc etc. I'm arguing at the moment that while it may have become acceptable in the west to 'act' like a porn star, to 'look' like a porn star and to dabble in pole dancing for exercise - it's still not ok to actually be a porn star.
