Americans are stupid

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.

Good grief! Yes. Yes, that.

If you hear about a tall, weary looking American man, who goes ape shit postal at a gathering of The National Association of Stupid People, wearing a Praetorian guard helmet, carrying a gladius in one hand and a marked up Latin dictionary in the other... well, if you don't see me around here anymore, think about me when you hear the Dead Roman March playing. :(

When the goobers begin debating socialism and capitalism as governmental systems and communism and democracy as economic systems, I'm going in swing, brothers & sisters! Just know that I held out as long as I could. But a feller can't take but so much stupid shit in one lifetime before he snaps.

I did it for the children. :shy:

That's the entire gist of what I'm saying. I don't know what you studied in college, but, whatever it was didn't value brevity. :)

Economics and business.

And perhaps not. Though my time on the farm did teach me that you have to watch where you step as you walk through the cow pastures... as well as through life. And making grand excuses for why you have shit on your shoes doesn't change the fact that there's still shit on your shoes. :)

What's the measure of stupid?

What would you say it is? What could we agree on, that we could then apply objective measures to?

South Korea
Education- #1
Population- #25 48,580,000
GDP- #12 $1,467,000,000,000.00

United States
Education- #14
Population- #3 312,799,000
GDP- #1 $14,720,000,000,000.00

The comparison only gets worse for other countries the further down the list you go.

Let's look at GDP side-by-side-
USA GDP- #1 $14,720,000,000,000.00
SoK GDP- #12 $1,467,000,000,000.00

So, Americans are stupid compared to?

Winner, winner chicken dinner.

It's the 80/20 rule. Or the 60/40 rule. Or the 50/50 rule. Or the 10/90 rule.

Whatever.

I proposed education above, but as Icewater Jones pointed out, there's a great divide between stupid and uneducated. To quote the movie Forrest Gump, "stupid is as stupid does" and as such, I think I'll just stay out of cow pastures.

Fair enough. I agree that we might sometimes mix & match "ignorance" (which we all are to some degree) with "stupidity" (which I see as willful ignorance). But I'd still claim that most any American who does not take advantage of the tremendous opportunities (warts and all) that are before him/her is... stupid. If you drop out of high school, so you'll have more time to smoke weed and play video games... you is one dumb mofo.

Literacy rates should be higher and dropout rates should be lower. No excuses!

Yes they are given a study guide because they aren't from here therefore they don't know much about our country. An American shouldn't need a study guide to pass the citizenship test because all of the things on that test you should've learned from your education, they teach all that stuff to you in school

If you're an American and you need a study guide for this, something is wrong.

Your basically arguing that people should remember things they learned in high school govt and history. While i agree that they should be able to remember large chunks of it, There are things that people will forget. If you havent noticed that the only reasons shows like "Are you smarter than a 5th grader" work is because they know people forget things. Its no different in other countries. As someone who has spent alot of time in different cultures and countries for extended periods of time. I can tell you that its not just americans who forget things they learn about national history and govt. And btw this history channel quiz is kinda easy, the real citizenship test isnt that easy.

ur definitely right, steve jobs was chinese, phill collins, henry ford, they were not americans :)

When you attempt to win an argument about intelligence without using one bit of capitalization in your sentence...and with the first word being netspeak...you literally automatically lose the argument.
