OU's loss looks shocking at first glance, but when you consider the facts, it isn't such a shock. Texas Tech has played well all season. Both their losses were against top teams, Kansas State and Texas A&M, and were both close. OU had those "big" wins against Florida State and Missouri, but both of those teams have proven to be big disappointments, and it's not like the Sooners won those easily. I think A&M is the best team in the Big XII, but because of one bad half of football, they are on the outside looking in, as Okie State would have to drop two games.

You are correct except for your assessment of Texas A & M IMO. They couldn't close against OSU or Arkansas so the reality of it is that they are as good as their record says they are. OSU is in the driver's seat which means they will probably lose to OU when they play in December. KSU is the unknown quantity here. I said a couple of weeks ago that I'm starting to drink the purple kool-aid but it would figure that they will lose to both OSU and OU over the next 2 weeks. Regardless, if the Big 12 doesn't have an undefeated team to offer up to the BCS, they won't be represented in the NC game. It would then be up to Stanford and Clemson and, to a lesser extent, BSU to try to attain that recognition. If not, we will likely have Alabama against LSU for the title which, taking nothing away from the dominance of the SEC, would suck since it would basically be a conference rematch with little national appeal. It would be really great if a team from another BCS conference would at least show an inkling of having national championship capabilities but I'm not at all sure it will come to fruition.

Off topic....I'll try to get the weekly pics in tomorrow. Was at a trade show this week and it put me behind the 8 ball. Damn work!!!

My opinion: Win your damn conference or get the fuck out. NEVER, EVER should there be a conference match-up in the national championship, UNLESS the teams shared the title, which is impossible in the SEC or any conference with a title game.

tell the whole story...bama just started doing that against tenn...they doing it before the game and at halftime against lsu:rolleyes:...we may need 2 scoreboards

i want to see the two best teams in the NC game what conference is beside the point IMO

Ok here are this week's picks. BSU, 'Bama and LSU all on byes but some terrific games anyway. Sparty/Husker matchup should be awesome as well as K-State/OU and Stanford/USC. Get your picks in by kickoff time Saturday. I left out tonight's Rice/Houston game to give everyone extra time since I was so late submitting the list. Coogs will kill 'em anyway so what's the point? :1orglaugh

By definition, a team that doesn't win its own conference is not one the best teams in the nation.

thats not always true...thats when what teams you have beat..and who the one loss is to comes to light ...if your only loss is against the #1 team or the #2 team..to make it in the NC game..being #2 is good enough..i know im going to catch hell about this..but most 1 loss teams in the sec would run the table in another conf.....(im going to get it now)..anyway

Bill Snyder is just an unbelievable coach. What that man does with above average talent is just simply remarkable, at a school that had no history whatsoever previous to his arrival nevertheless!. He is taking Bob Stoops to school and showing him how it's done. I don't care if Oklahoma wins, Bill Snyder doesn't have to prove anything more to me than he has for 20 plus years.

Mizzou took out the Aggies in College Station. Great win for a good team who has played a brutal schedule this season!:glugglug:
