2008 MLB Thread

We really need some Royals fans here.

Maybe I'll switch my allegiance to them next season.

I, for one, was only surprised about the TIMING of Yost's firing.

Yeah, I had no clue he was on the verge of being fired, but after listening to ESPN - Baseball Tonight I guess there was a chance he was going to be fired at the end of the year.

Timing was odd, I sure didnt expect it.

yost was in trouble when the cubs swept them 4 straight in august. looks like sf gets another year of bad decisions as the new owner is keeping brian sabean so that means the giants won't turn thier pitching stock into some compentent hitters

:dunno:

There's nothing to be done about it now.

Like I said, the only surprise for me was the timing. But then I haven't read a newspaper since I moved (and the one I used to read only talked about the Yankees and occasionally the Mets...stupid Star Ledger), and I don't have cable, so...

Once again he pulled a pitcher who was cruising along impressively (in this case to get a lefty/lefty matchup), and once again it blew up in his face.

Man it's frustrating watching him manage

Hey, he's new to the league :1orglaugh

Lots of managers do this, but I dont know. I guess things arent always going to go the way you want them to.

Is that true? I could've sworn he managed in the NL before me managed the Yankees.

:dunno:

I have no clue what im talking about :1orglaugh:o

Your right, he did for 3 teams actually.
-Mets for 3 years
-Braves for 3 years
-Cardinals for 6 years

He also played in the NL.

but he had been with the Yankee's since 1996 - 12 years. So i guess there is some truth to what I said, since Im sure the game has changed a little bit since he has been in the NL

Are you talking about Joe Girardi?

For Cubs fans...

On WGN tonight at 10PM CT (at least in the Chicago area), they are showing an encore presentation of Carlos Zambrano's no-hitter.

I wonder how it ends...

A lot better than the 1+ innings he "pitched" yesterday.

I'm still hoping the Twins can make the playoffs. There currently 2.5 games back. They have 3 games at home verse the White Sox. We almost will need a sweep of the White Sox to have playoff hopes this year.

I am frustrated with my team and Joe Nathan currently. If they don't make it though it's alright Twins fans have been spoiled last 7 years with playoff appearances about 5 times.

I tried to care about my Brewers, but all I do is jinx them.

Who should I root for during the rest of the season (such as it is)?
