Yes. Time's a wasting. He's not getting any younger :(

I think mlb.com offers streaming video/audio downloads to subscirbers who can't get games via regular tv/radio. Costs around $20 to have access for the whole year, if I recall correctly.

Well Vin can forget Andruw Jones and remember Manny Ramirez again. Jeez what happened to Jones? Biggest fall of any ballplayer maybe ever, roids? Possibly but it looked liked he just forgot how to play the game. Sad. Barry Zito and Paris Hilton gettin all:lovecoupl? Whatever, just hope that doesnt affect his already poor pitching.

I think the problem with Jones is he has Bartolo Colon syndrom, they both ballooned just like Miguel Cabrera.

God I am just about fed up with the cheap Wilpons and the inept Omar. When will Mets fucking make a move that makes sense for the club and turns it into a WS caliber team?

Are you serious?

They adressed their biggest problem this off season which was late inning bullpen help. They have a really good setup man and a really good closer. And when the Closer gets a night off the setup man is a closer so he can close the game.

What else do you want them to do?

As for Andruw Jones, he didnt take his play seriously. He got by on natural god-given ability and when that started to diminish, so did his play. Now just imagin if he had a great work ethic plus his talent. We could be talking about the greatest CF ever, considering how well he did with a poor work ethic.

How about a #2 starting pitcher? I agree that Lowe got overpaid by the Braves but Mets can really use him and now they've lost him to a divisional rival. If Lowe does well against the Mets this year I'll be majorly pissed. They also don't have a power hitter in the OF, specifically LF. Tatis and Murphy platooning is not going to get it done. Another lefty for the Pen is also needed. If they can sign Sheets, Wolf (don't want Ollie for his asking price), a lefty reliever, and Manny they would have addressed all the holes and I'll be a happy camper.

Beat the Phillies or anyone for that matter but they cant they just choke at the end of the year and their payroll is ridiculous. Their players dont play with heart & their entire roster is overrated except for Santana, Wright, & Delgado. Also, Santana should thank J.C Romero for teaching him how to throw that nasty change-up which is Santana's best pitch & it's almost as good as Cole Hamels.

As far as Andruw Jones he was more than likely roiding. He did get fat though, but his numbers were never great to begin with. He did hit 50 home runs in 1 season but so did Brady Anderson for the Orioles & he wasn't even good. Saying Jones could be mentioned as the greatest ever? Hell No! No matter what he did in his career. Mays,Mantle,Griffey Jr. But Hands Down Mays is the G.O.A.T (greatest of all time)

anyhow I cant wait for the 09 season go Phils beat the Mets ass all season & win the division & hopefully repeat

A Happy Phillies Phan!!

I didnt say he was the best, I said if he had a decent work ethic, he could have possibly been mentioned as one...

And how do you expect them to pay for all of this? :1orglaugh

They have Maine as there number 2 starter. They will possibly sign another starter but I doubt it will be a top notch guy.

That's the thing. The Wilpons CAN afford all these, yet they rather take the cheap way out and avoid going for those real expensive FAs. They may have lost $300 mil due to the scam but they are still a New York team, with a budget that's in the top 3 of the league. If the owners care about winning they would have signed Lowe, Manny, and Ollie. But the fact that Lowe was snagged by the Braves show you just how cheap they are.

Well by your logic, why didnt they just shell out 200 mil for Sabathia and another 150 mil for Burnett.

Theyd be all set with them, huh.

Its funny you want them go to out and spend all this money. The past 2 season they missed the playoff's on the last day of the season.

Why are they going to sign all these free agents to outrageous contracts when they cleary dont need that much help to win.

They adressed their biggest problem and they feel that should get them over the hump after two consecutive late season collapses.

They owners/GM are trying to win at with spending the least amount of money as possibly, not the most.

You are a bit naive if you think upgrading the Pen is all that is needed to make the playoffs. They share the division with the WS winner and they have glaring holes in the rotation (no Redding isn't the answer), LF, and 2B (because Castillo will get hurt again). If they want to contend for a title you need to upgrade those positions with the best players available. Mets will never outbid the Yanks for the best FAs but they can still get the next best FA. They have tried to win with minimal investment and that didn't work out. How about signing FAs that will make the biggest impact to the team and win the division handily instead of coming down to the last game of the season again?

The Mets have had epic collapses, two years in a row, largely due to it's terrible bullpen. They have a good team in place, as shown by their pre-September success from the past two years, but they need some help in the bullpen to solidify them as a true contender down the stretch.

I figure the mets are like every one else waiting untill arbitration is done and then pounce on guys who's prices are coming down. there will be plenty of desperate players come mid feb just wait. they mets did a great job on the bullpen so i think the starters won't have to work as deep to get wins.besides a rotation of santanna, maine, pelfery and redding isn't that bad, hell these 4 could win 50-60 games as a group

I heard on tv that Andruw Jones is playing winter ball in the Dominican Republic, and he's still sucking. Roids catch up to you after a while, whether it's body breakdown, or dependence on them.

Argh! Cubs have 7 strikeouts looking through 5 innings. Why do I continue to punish myself? This team just makes me cry. I guess there's always next year.
