The Second-Hottest Man in my Mother's Basement
Well, the Jays lost to Boston tonight. That really hurts their chances at another playoff appearance this year. I doubt they will capture the wild card, though I never really predicted them to make the playoffs in the first place. At least they'll probably end the season above .500.

 at how much the dodgers suck

That team is frustrating as hell. They should get a real closer, Broxton is all promise, but he has been blowing save after save. Manny has been doing his job since he got here even though he has been struggling the last couple of games. If it wasn't for Manny the Dodgers would've been out of the race some time ago. Let's enjoy Manny while we can, cause I'm sure he will cross over to the Evil Empire (Yankees) next year. Also, we need to get rid of that cancer Jeff "Pornstache" Kent.

Actually Kent is hitting the cover off the ball ever since he started betting infront of Manny. I would like to see Torre bat Kemp there a couple times just to see how he does. He doing a decent job lead off though.

I dont know what to think on Broxton. He's hitting 99 on the gone but throwing it all of the place. I think everyone in the damn stadium and everyone at watching at home could tell he was over throwing.

I think Martin should have went out there to settle him down.

Oh well, maybe if Furcal makes it back mid september he will spark a hot streak, but its going to be hard with him coming back from back surgery.

That's true, Kent has been doing great since they acquired Manny, but he's definitely a cancer in the clubhouse. He got offended after Vin Scully said that he has been doing better because Manny is in the line up. He said that Scully "talks too much." You can't disrespect the legend. Also the feud between the veterans and the young guys last year was between him and Matt Kemp. Every team he goes to there's chaos.

I LOVE me some A.J.!!!!!!!!!!

He's the Dennis Rodman of MLB! Hate his guts it he's not on your team, love him if he is!!!

Zell, TOTALLY agree with you! Couldn't have said it any better.

D-Rock, I don't understand why you would feel dirty rooting for the sox?! and why are cubs fans great?!

the cubs have had the money to be the yankees of the national league for decades, but they go on the cheap cuz for the longest of times, regardless of how shitty a team they put out there, people came for the "experience" that is/was Wrigley Field. Being on WGN IMMENSELY broadens their fanbase (something the Sox are trying to cash in on) The worst thing that happend to them was Bartman in 2003, because those few that DID pay attention to the game became vocal about wanting to win after being so close. now they feel obligated to put out a contender, so what happens, they are looking to sell the franchise. what a team:eek:

Yeah, I see what you mean now. I guess its not really good for the young players. I wonder how Manny and Kent are meshing together :1orglaugh .

This is extremely frusturating, the Dodgers score a total of 5 runs in 4 games. Kemp even got on base 3 times tonight, twice with lead off doubles and no one could drive him.

Where the hell can we turn for some offensive production?

well if mark cuban buys the cubs they will be the yankees of the nl but the comish and jerry reinsdorf will do everything they can to keep him out of baseball. wow the a's finally played well to bad it's so late

true, but he'd sure as hell make it interesting. wonder how long it would take before he ripped the umps for a bad call and sent them the tape!:1orglaugh

apparently Obama said he was a White Sox fan today, and stereotyped the Cubs fans as "not paying attention to the game.":1orglaugh

I don't despute that the orinization and the people running it have been a bunch of idiots for a very long time now, but as far as the fans go, the most loyal and hardcore of the Cubs fans are, with maybe the sole exception of (and I hate to say this)Green Bay Packer fans have been the most loyal people in at least all of American sports. I'd bet if some team like the Yankees or White Sox took a dip and only won 60 games for the next couple of years the stands would be virtually empty at the end of that time.

Fuc*en Dodgers. That team is all tease, they win four in a row, then they turn around and lose 5 in a row. Plenty of games left, but I'm losing hope in this mediocre team.

are you watching the game tonight?

omg

they've now scored one run the last four times they've had the bases loaded with nobody out, and they only scored that run thanks to a major brain fart by the opposing catcher.

they've left 35 men on base in the last 2 1/2 games

then just to add to their aggravation Torre lets Lowe bat with the bases loaded and two out in the top of the sixth down by one run. naturally he strikes out. way to go Joe

yes, i argee. . . if the Sox put a crap team that only won 60 games, attendance would dip. Here's my problem. go to Wrigley, and only about a third of the "fans" are true, hardcore fans. the ballpark fills up with those there for the "experience" not because they care about the Cubs. they are more concerned about which bars to hit in the neighborhood. and those people call themselves "true" fans. that's why their fanbase gets labeled so. They sell out even when they have a shitty team because people go for the party/frat boy environment that has become going to a game there. it was a cash cow for years and years, with so-called "die-hard" fans that showed up to "support their team." yes, some fans are true and loyal, but its just as every other organization. the TRUE fans were upset when they lost and demanded a better, more competent team, not a half-hearted effort. that's why i think the worst thing for that franchise was coming sooo close but failing. if you can sell out with a payroll of 70 Million, why put out a team with a 120 Million in salaries?!
yes, i am biased. this town, as zell stated, treats the Cubs like they can do no wrong, yet berates the White Sox any chance they get. although the Sox' ownership hasn't been outstanding either, the moment we could compete atop the division, our owner has tried everything to give the team a fighting chance and WIN. that's what puts people in the stands.

Couple weeks tops :1orglaugh

He could also make the records books as being the first owner ever thrown out of game haha :1orglaugh

You are dead on correct, sir. The Sox in this town get no respect, even after bringing a WS Championship back to this town, but all that anyone cares about is when are the Cubs gonna win?Dumb ass Cubs fans are so fucking stupid that they still tried, and will try to argue that there team is still the greatest thing since sliced bread even though the Sox won the last WS.

If the Cubs ever win the WS it will probably be the worst thing that could happen in sports do solely to the fact that every Charlatan and shithill will come out of the woodworks like they were fans since birth, but are nothing more than bandwagon riders, and, this entire city would lose it's fucking mind.I'm even sure that businesses would shut down for the day because of the fucking Cubs.We didn't get that for the Sox,and that's ok,but don't give special treatment to the Cubs just because they are the Cubs.
