2008 MLB Thread

Magnet can you explain to me why broxton pitched the ninth inning tonight on short rest when his team had a 4 run lead and has six tough games in a row coming up the rest of the week?

I'm just baffled by the way torre is using this guy :wtf:

Because he had the night before off? Im not sure, maybe also because he blew his last save and he wanted him to work through some kinks and bounce back.

Rumor has it that my Brewers have quite the winning streak right now.

I don't know for sure, though, because the only things I see on TV are the swimming cube and the gymnastics floor. :wtf:

They did, but they lost today

And they will dropping the next 3 to the Dodgers :D

And my A's lose....AGAIN.

And my boy Ziggy finally gives up a run...not a good day :(

I went to watch the cubs at Wrigley Field, had a great time, very different to our football (soccer) over here in the UK.

More of an occasion, very good natured, felt more like going to a movie with friends...

Is this because I had no vested interest in the actual game or is it always like that ?

Yes,it's pretty much always like that and that's the problem with Wrigley Field and the Cubs and their so called "fans".

There are more people just there to hang out and not actually watch the game or pay attention to what's actually going on.I'm a Sox fan and I've been to Wrigley a few times and it kind of annoys me that there are more of these types of patrons around. No offense to you number18,but if you lived in this city and saw everyday how the local media treats the Cubs like they are untouchable and the Sox like they are the retarded stepchild, then you would understand.

Even after the Sox won the World Series, they couldn't wait to talk about what the Cubs are going to do to win one.Growing up here in Chicago pretty much all my like and being a Sox fan,it really disgusts me.

Yo shayd, your A's are takin' it up the ass from my Sox.Lot of good those prospects are doing now.:1orglaugh

Just fuckin' with ya,but Gio didn't look too good today, and Javey is takin' care of business today.

At least the real Cubs fans are some of the greatest in sports. I don't know many other teams that have had as many people stick with them despite how bad they have done the last 100 years. During that time it's been a refreshing change from the fair-weather fans that support other organizations. The Cubs are just one of those teams that are easy to like which is the exact opposite of the Sox. I would feel dirty if I ever cheered for them.

"Real fans" of any team will stick with them through thick and thin, but a very good percentage of so called Cubs fans couldn't even tell you who plays second base. Those are the fans that I'm talking about.

And what makes the Cubs so easy to like?Just because they find a way to blow it every year and then the fans act like it's ok?Sure there are some guys that are fan favorites like Derrick Lee,but they have assholes too. Most people don't like A.J. Pierzinski because they think he's an asshole, and he probably is,but what about Carlos Zambrano? That guy is a fucking basket case and I think that you'll find quite a few people that don't like his ass either.

so outside of A.J.,what is there to dislike so much about the White Sox?they have good guys that are likable too, like Jim Thome(well known as one of the nicest guys in the league by his peers),Paul Konerko(passed up a huge payday with another team to stay with the team that he won a ring with),Jermaine Dye(World Series MVP,and you never hear about him in any trouble on or off the field).

Now if you grew up in Chicago and you like the Cubs and just hate the Sox because of the way that it is here, then I understand, but if you are an outsider and just dislike the Sox for no reason, well I think that's kinda shitty and totally unwarranted. It isn't like they are the Yankees or anything,so I just don't understand where you're coming from.

Well my Mets have won six in a row and are two games up in the NL East!

I must admit I haven't been keeping close track of them now that I don't see them on the news each night and haven't been online that much. Maybe my "laissez-faire" attitude has been the key to their good play!

We did just get demolished. :(

It's funny because Gio, even as bad as he looked today, along with Carlos Gonzalez, were the only players on the A's today that looked halfway competant.

Vasquez was just dealing the entire game.
